Just wanted to let everyone know what worked for me. Got my 2015 es with 8k on it in January of this year. Only to find it was hard to start in cold weather. Not that it wouldn't start. It would always start then die. On the second try it would start and stay running. I didn't think this was right for a fuel injection bike.
I ask about this on the forum earlier this year. With a lot of you saying to upgrade my battery to the 14 series. Which I did this summer. But did not have the starting problem in warm weather with my old or new battery. Back to cold weather and it is doing the same thing.
2 weeks ago I filled up the gas tank and added sta-bill and 3 oz of Marvel Mystery oil. And took it out for a spin. Something I have always done for winter storage. I ride in the winter but not as much. This has always helped my carburetor bikes. Now every time I start the s10 no matter how cold it fires up the first time and purrs like a kitten. I know that some people don't like the snake oil. But I going to keep using it.

I always use a very small amount of Silkolene Pro-boost whenever I fill up. It also helps to keep the internals clean.

There's a good reason Sta-Bil and Marvel Mystery Oil have been in business for as long as they have! I've always used the Marvel Mystery oil in all my engines. Usually about once a year. Also a fan of Berrymans B-12. These products are more important to me especially with the Ethanol crap.

I am a Star*Tron, Sta-Bil type of fellow.
Myself as well.
If I think it might be a month or so before I can get out on one of my bikes, I'll put the proper amount of Sta-bil in when I gas up, or one of those "single-serving" bottles of Star-Tron on my way home to make sure it runs through the whole fuel system.

guess I'm spoiled here in the south as I ride 12 months a year.....
I do too, but still toss in 1 oz of Yamaha Ring Free per tank now and then to keep the carbon build up at a minimum. Haven't noticed any change in running when I don't use it for a while, but after seeing the inside of my previous S10 at 83k, I'm thinking it won't hurt anything. :)

TCW-3 dosed at 1oz per 5 gallons of gas has very similar effects to Marvel's Mystery Oil.

I have used TCW-3 in regular gas engines (including my S-10) for years and it really does help keep the valves and piston tops clean, lubricated and rust free. Marvel's Mystery Oil (MMO for short) is good stuff too and has been proven for years. MMO is more expensive than TCW-3 because it is dosed at 2oz per 5 gallons of gas.

The Gen1 bikes had more of a carbon problem than the Gen2 seem to. I bought 2 boxes of the little Yamaha bottles when I had the Gen1 and still put in a bottle every now & then.

I like to go the other direction, especially on my old 650GS. No additives, just use non-ethanol gas. I have to ride a few miles to get it, but the bike is much happier. Jury is still out on the S10 appetite. Last year I bought a 5 gal jug for the mower and stuff, so sometimes I can just fill from that jug. I did however add Startron before Winter storage.

Always Sta-Bil it thru the long winter. Not sure about carbon buildup in my '16, but I figure some Star Tron every other tankful won't hurt.

When ever I start bitchin' about our summers....I think about our "winters"; and decide the 12 month riding season is worth the heat. I've never used the Mystery Oil, but am a HUGE fan of Sta-Bil. My mower fuel is treated year round for Justin Case.

I too have been using Sta-Bil for years. With my 2 stroke I simply used the premix between racing seasons to keep the fuel fresh. I now am trying out those neat little bottles that Yamaha sells for about 2 or 3 bucks. One bottle per 5 gallons of fuel. I keep a nice metal 5 gallon can filled in the shed ready to top off my bikes. That way I can peel out of the driveway and not stop for gas. I'm normally too beat and lazy to top off at the end of my rides.

I happen to be a regular user of Marvel Mystery Oil in everything I own with a gas engine
As for you Cycledude, It still just blows my mind whenever I read below your posts and see that you peeled off over a half a million miles on a Gold Wing! I bet not much Marvel mystery oil got used in that bike!! LOL:)

Stabil fan here too. I got two chainsaws out that have been in my shed for 2 1/2 years with ethanol in them One fired up with 4 pulls and the other with 5. Huskys.

Definitely a fan of Sta-Bil and like others, used MMO once upon a time. SeaFoam has been my snake oil of choice for the last decade or so.
