Hello guys
I've been a "guest user" (viewer) in this forum for some time. I'm from Lisbon, Portugal.
In 2015 I decided that was time to move up from a 700 Transalp. Being a daily commuter I need a reliable bike and some confy one so I can pick my wife and ride around the country (and go to Morocco- just a 500 miles from where I live).
Another issue was No Chain (damn, I hate to lube that thing and clean all that mess - wich I often didn't).

Conclusion: Reliable= Japanese. No chain = Shaft. Confort= 1200cc?? Back roads and Morocco = Trail bike.

Test rode the Honda Crosstourer (VFR1200X) loved it - that V4 is awesome. Internet forum search gave some shaft drive issues... hmmm and it's a road bike with trail looks.

Test rode the Africa Twin - wow - I fell in love with that bike. Jekyll and Hyde: Feels like a DR450 on steroids - power and..... brakes!!!
BUT the AT has a... chain. Did I mention that I loved it? :)

Test rode the Super Ténéré (yes, my keyboard can write it properly, lol).
Wow the S10 is a big fat mamma. Ok, my feet both on the ground - I'm 1,82m - 5,97 ft. - and the seat on the high position. Back up a bit and... heavy! 1st gear and ... Look Mum no weight! Some vibes at high speeds (on circuit, duh) and it pulls and pulls no matter what gear you're into. I love torque and the S10 has TORQUE. Filtering traffic (kinda legal in Portugal) no drama, as long as the wheels are rolling you can ride it like a small bike. Cruise control made me smile. Didn't feel the need for electronic suspension (and plus 2600€).

Ok, let us search the Internet? When you google " Yamaha Super Ténéré forum" it gives you... Tcharan! The One! ::003::

There will be Problems!?!? Nothing. Some guys arguing about the rear spokes coming loose, the best tyres for Alaska trip, the drama about how much oil to put in the engine vs. dry sump explanations.... Leaks on the pumpkin seal. Never ever: Transmission failure, engine leaking oil, electronic catastrophic failure, etc. One italian (Davide Bigga) made a rtw with a headlight bulb fail. Man, I learned a lot about the tiny issues of the S10.

This is the motorcycle I needed/wanted.
Last November I bought one. 2016 XTZ1200Z Race Blu (silver matte with blue forks and wheels).
Now, it has 10000 kms (6000 miles) and it runs better. Like all the guys in the forum said.

Can't thank you enough for all the altruistic information and help you guys give everyday. ::012::

I bought a Super Ténéré and IT'S YOUR FAULT! O:)

All the best to you all

Welcome aboard! Conspicuous by its absence was any reference of a BMW. Oh, that's right, you wanted reliability. ::025::
