Hello all, I just bought a used 2014 S-10. I hitched a ride from my home in Central WA to the thriving Craigs List market of the greater Seattle area. My new to me ride came with many goodies and a few loose ends (some BS electrical work that I will try and track down and disassemble). All and all a good value and everything works as it should for the moment (still in that new relationship faze where you have to worry a bit). Of course like most of you I read everything I could online for several years before pulling the trigger. For me the "its boring and reliable" was the best selling point as I love reliable and have aged far enough to avoid smoking crack if its offered to me and would rather stop at a beer or two. What I suppose Im trying to say is that I do not really trust myself with a rocket ship and have learned the hard way what a truly fast bike will do to my will power. At the moment I have a project bike (possible hipster type thing) that I crashed many years back and hope to rebuild as well as a Indian scooter (Bajaj Chetak plus parts bike) and my 99klr which is what pushed me to the S-10. I am excited for the new ride and look forward to learning from you all.

Warm regards, 509rider (same name on advrider)

Indian scooters? That's a whole new level over Chinese scooters. ;) We have a few KLR guys here, resist the urge to look for baling wire. Please.

Welcome....but....reliable, yes....boring, no. And, although she's not an R1, or an H2, she can be a truly fast bike. I expected a larger version of the KLR....not even close. :D

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Though I said that I had read the haters claim that the bike was boring, I new all motorcycles are fun. I toured Nepal with my wife on the back of a Chinese Suzuki 125 for 12 days and loved it. When I bought the S-10 at 4pm yesterday I jumped on and road over Snoqualmie pass on I-90 with a huge grin on my face loving the power band, balance, cruse control and overall comfort of the bike. Today I made excuses to go out and just ride. For me that is what it is all about. Yes it is heavy but so well balanced that I already found myself at ease on the dirt (I live 4 miles up a dirt road). So thanks, and know that I too have drank the kool aid.

When released in India, these Scooters ran a premium.
People pre-booked a scooter (or multiple scooters) with a deposit. Then a confirmation notification would be received with the date when the scooter would be ready for delivery. That notification was then 'sold' (often multiple times) - each time with a 'profit' tagged on.

Welcome to the S10 madness. Keep your wallet handy!

Thanks I hope I do.
Nothing against the KLR, had one....liked it....it was good for what it was designed for. BUT, although it and the Tenere are both described as dual purpose....that's where the similarity ends. If you liked your MT-01, you'll like the Tenere. The weight is similar, and the HP/Torque are reversed. I've never ridden the MT-01, but the Tenere carries her weight very well.

I found myself at the Super Tenere becouse I was looking for something decidedly more comfortable for long tours and yet still able to handle the dirt roads that I drive daily. I was attracted to the large sport touring bikes like the FJR but felt the second I dropped it in the mud I would be crestfallen and annoyed. Of course I do not want to drop the Tenere but expect it to happen eventually. Any how I got out on it today and really enjoy how it handles the paved and dirt road. So much fun to ride and super comfortable. I also love slipping by my neighbors unnoticed on the quite bike.

Ultimately it was the noise of the MT-01 that got me, very hard to stick on a long term basis. Yes... quiet is good!

Yes MT sure was a torque monster but the noise even with baffles fried your brain, fuel light comes on at 90 miles too... not great, tiny tank.
