The top plate on my broken rack still looks fine. Let me know if anybody needs it.
That's exactly what I've done with my rack. Works fine.So with the bottom rack being the failure point do you guys think a longer button head bolt could be used with a washer in place of the countersunk?
What do you want for it?The top plate on my broken rack still looks fine. Let me know if anybody needs it.
Thank you I will do so.That's exactly what I've done with my rack. Works fine.

Done! PM incoming.I'll never use it. Cover my trip to Fedex and it's yours. If my 2nd Altrider rack craps out. I'm done with them.
My Altrider lower rack also cracked. I was riding down the 5 and noticed my rear box bouncing up and down. Thankfully it happened close to home. I sent Altrider an email about me possibly buying a replacement but never heard back....which is odd because they had been so helpful to me in the past.Omg thank you.
I bought it forever ago and it only has an “N///“ on it, so i was not recalling the name correctly.
Right there is what gets their attention, social media. Everyone lives and dies by it these days so if "private" conversations on the phone or through email don't net a response that's reasonable, call them out in public so now tens of thousands of eyes are watching. After 5 days, multiple emails and several pokes on social media, they finally got back to me. They gave me a warranty form to fill out and it's currently in their hands right now. We'll see what happens.
That looks like a very solid mount.I've checked mine and recon it is mounted in a different way. The plate ain't bolted to the spacers directly but rather there is a bottom U shaped plate below it.
I'm touching iron but it seems this application shall resist (hopefully) better.
Pics hereafter to explain what i mean

I would be sliding in a toolbag that is soft so it would be fine with the button head.
Wow I just installed the rack last night and ordered the M8 hardware this morning. It didn't dawn on me to fill the cavity.I've used these countersink fillers before on aircraft... they will add extra support / strength to the countersunk hole if you are going to use a standard Hex head bolt or Mush headed bolt & washer. We would use an epoxy to secure them into the countersink, once cured we would then grind/mill the protruding metal off so they were flush to the surface of the material. (I know these are stainless but you can get aluminium ones).
