Always wear a helmet

I always wear one more for protection from bugs and rock hits than anything else. I had a rock or some unknown object hit square in the front of the helmet just above the shield once and it left about a 1/2" wide dent 1/8" deep. That would have stung a little square in the forehead at the least. Then later, had my rear ender accident that was 100% my own fault 2 miles from home and the helmet took a hit that would have been painful if not fatal. Here in Colorado we don't have the helmet law, and vast majority of riders, mostly the cruisers and Goldwing crowd don't ever wear a helmet, where most the sportbike riders do, but ride with shorts, flip flops ect.

I killed two birds with helmet strikes last year at 60+ MPH both times. Hate to think about those birds hitting me in the head or face instead.

Took a chicken out while riding about 50 miles per hour. I almost got under it but hit it with my forehead area. Of course it crapped all over me and fell in my lap scratching and clawing but I was able to pitch it off the side of the road and continue on to work. Like the rest of you all who have mentioned rocks bugs and real hits on the ground. I use my gear and dress for the crash not the ride.

Bahahaaa!! I'm sorry....but if I had riding with you....and saw THAT....I would have crashed from laughing so hard....and probably pissed myself. It would have been me, and the chicken, laying in the ditch by the road.

I’m with Sierra, the mental picture of this has me chuckling! Glad you were not hurt.
