Altrider Pillion Rack - Could it come back?

So, I've been emailing with a rep at Altrider, Lyndell Jensen. He says they need to sell 100 Pillion racks to justify a run that'll make money. If he gets 50 names and phone numbers, he can push it with his bosses. He has three or four folks now. His email is lyndell.j@altrider.com.

I ask that the folks who are more adept at spreading the word on the various forums do so. I'm a rank amateur, and likely to post unnoticed in some arcane corner.

I called them today looking for the rack they told me they will not be making them anymore due to lack of sales it isn't a money maker for them

There is a guy selling one and other parts in NY. I just bought some things form him and he still has the Alt rack. Search CL in Ny (Goshen) under Super Tenere. His name is Mark and easy to deal with. Hope this helps people looking for one.

I offered to buy a license for the DXF of their pillion rack and they thought that was insulting. If there isn't any market for selling pillion racks, I'm not exactly sure what they are protecting.

I could probably draw something up and have it made if they don't want to do another run of these.

While I fully respect intellectual property rights, I've learned that the more knowledge and experience I share, the better off everyone is, myself included. If nothing else, there was no need for the attitude.

I made a post on the luggage thread titled pillion rack. There is a guy named Mak10 who made his own and did a damn good job he has pics of it on my post. He sent me the prints so I can make one. I got a piece of aluminum today for 22 bucks. I' just going to make one

What you're describing sounds like magic to my old ears. It also sounds awesome. Guessing that's an online computerized machine shop to which you send plans that they turn into product?

go check out Mak 10...His is better than alt rider and he did it with a drill and jig saw and a file
