I order a set of upper and lower crash bars from revzilla. Is there any speciality tools I might need to put them on

Just wrenches and allen wrenches. Can't remember the sizes needed. But If you don't already have a set of metric allen wrenches and a set of metric box and/or open end wrenches...now would be the time to buy some.

I got them even allen head sockets. I watched a yt vid guy had a real long allen wrench with a rounded head

I also love me some of the ratcheting, flex-head box wrenches. Fantastic for places that you can't get a socket in, but still have the speed of a ratchet.

Nice choice on protection. If your installing solo be careful no to scratch up your plastic (specifically when installing the uppers). It can be a bit awkward.

From the install PDF - Tools necessary:
1/2” ratchet
17mm socket
Allen tool set
2 ml thread locker
19 mm socket6

Be sure to torque down the bolts in the order specified in the instructions. It will help line everything up and tighten it down straight at the end.

Love my set. I only got the lowers so I can swing my leg on top of either side on long rides. Paint is a bit thin and flakes off where I rested my leg, but I’ll just spray paint it later.

Enjoy!

I am planning to add the upper part of these crash bars this spring. Just for looks.

The upper crash bars are a must if you drop your bike in the rocks. Mine saved my radiators in a simple tip over.

It's handy to have another set of hands available when you put them on. They can be a little unwieldy when you're trying to get everything lined up.

Be careful when you tighten the bolts that bolt to the engine, near the exhaust pipes. With the weight of the bars resting on those bolts as you try to line them up, it can be a little tough to tell at first whether or not you've cross threaded them. That's one area the extra set of hands can help; they can hold the bars up a little while you get the bolts started with your fingers to make sure they go in right.

They have installation instruction pdf s for both on the AltRider website. There is an installation video for the lower bars as well.

Eric thanks for posting the link, I don’t have AltRider Crashbars but was interested in seeing the mounting instructions since it seems like a lot of folks have problems mounting them.
Here is the video showing how to mount them

You had to select the lower bars, then on that page there was a link for an instruction vid. Seems you found one. I don't believe the upper bars page on AltRider's site had a video. Just a pdf.

They are actually very simple to install. Just time consuming is all. No instructions are needed. The upper bars can be zip tied or taped on one side while you install bolts on the other side. Main thing is to leave everything loose until it is all assembled.

If your AR lowers are anything like mine, you'll wonder if maybe a few of the holes need to be enlarged. It might be a bit of a struggle, but they'll go on ok. My bike has gone over softly in the parking lot twice, and thanks to the bars there is absolutely no evidence of it.

I'm happy with mine. I think the lower bars are enough to protect the radiator in a drop. Maybe it helps that I'm not riding this 600lb beast through rock gardens. ;-)
I wish I could say the same. Problem is when that nice smooth fire road turns into a nasty baby head rock pile 50+ miles into your ride. I have come to the realization It's important to make smart choices where to take this bike. It's really easy to get in over your head.

Here you are into the smooth abyss with mountains over 50 miles ahead of you:

Now you have to get over a pass and it's either turn around or pick your way over the rocks:

Thankfully I did not drop my bike in this stuff. I am so thankful to have the upper crash bars just in case.

FWIW, here is where my upper ones got a work out:
