The last five years I've only ridden a 2013 WR250R. No tachometer, no fuel gauge, no temps, no gear indicator, 20 something horsepower, dirt bike seat, etc. My 2019 ST is like a luxury sedan. I did learn this weekend what a 600lb bike feels like on steep, large rock roads--not good compared to the WR250R. :D

My temperature sensor over the weekend went over 100*F a few times while stop and go or sitting. It was 90 something degrees outside, though. I spent a half dozen years working in development for an electronics company, and I did fiddle with tuning cars a bit. The temperature sensor didn't worry me. I'm sure the max torque spark timing curve for the ST engine is retarded by air, coolant, and oil temperatures as well as detected misfires or detonation and load (volumetric). I definitely would not change the location of the sensor knowing that Yamaha tuned it in that configuration.
