I installed all six. Ill see if I still have the pictures.. Best to use a UNI type filter system with the use of these 'small' filters.

BTW, I would probably make this the LAST mod.... after headers, filter, ECU flash, (possible fuel controller). Then the engine can use more air, this is what I found out in my testing.

I used those in my older XR's. My super Tenere makes more than enough HP for my taste.

I am thinking to put some headers on at some point. Was also thinking to put a DNA filter in as i believe they are much better manufactured now. So was wondering if the standard air box will allow enough air in to make the filter worthwhile. Any replies much appreciated.

Lose 10 kilos and you'll have a better power to weight ratio than installing more things to clean in your air box. :D

What ~TABASCO~ knows from extensive dyno work is that it's really hard, (expensive), to make significant power on a NA engine and unless you spend a lot of money doing a full spectrum approach to it, the minor bits and pieces don't do much. I've dyno'd 300 rwhp vehicles with and w/o air filters and seen only 1-2 hp difference in back to back runs.

The point is that for 80% of the people that buy and install these mini-filters, the gains will be non-existent. Like the DNA filter, you're just installing something that requires more maintenance and may in fact filter less dirt than the standard paper filter. Especially true if you're not diligent in keeping it clean and oiled correctly.

It's your money, do what makes you happy. But ask yourself why you're spending money on this bike? If you want to go faster, buy a faster bike. You can't even hit red line in 2nd gear now w/o being over legal speeds nearly any place in the civilized world.

I'm going to guess that those rob a lot more than 1-2 hp. The airbox is meant to filter air and then the inlets are shaped to smooth the airflow to the valve port. These (1) put a restriction in that path and (2) would take away from what those inlets were designed to do.

Besides that, this bike's a Chevy Tahoe SUV, not a Subaru WRX street racer.

I would advise against anything that involves cutting or drilling holes in the Air-box.
On most motorcycles, the factory Air-box is designed in such a way as to produce an internal resonance.....................in some cases this resonance frequency will actually increase horsepower under certain situations.
There is a long history and many stories on sport-bike forums of riders drilling extra holes in their air-boxes, only to find they have lost engine response and lost horsepower.
Any time you disrupt this designed-in tuned resonance, you will most likely end up with negative results.

With our testing in the past, your 80% is off......... it should be 99.6% without supporting mods ! LOL. (true, but funny) :D

How dare you ! I have a very large "robust" WRX street racer that I ride ! She is a big girl that can run faster than Usane Bolt !! :p:D:eek: I had to train my big girl with the full engine massage..o_O
