Haven't been under there yet but it looks like a PITA. Anyone just reroute the thing and slap a filter on it? Looks like that would save time servicing. I have done it on many other bikes without issue.

Many thanks.

I just changed the clamp on mine to one easily accessed from the side with a long nose plier. It's not as bad as it looks.

Just pull the tubes out of the holder clamp near the oil filter. The hoses will slide up and give you enough to put on with the tank partially up. Just pull the hoses down with light force as you are putting the tank down so they don't crimp.

He's not talking about the two hoses to the underside of the tank, but the breather hose on the bottom of the air filter box. That one is more of a pain, but like WJBertrand, the long needle nose pliers do the trick for me.

I changed mine to a jubilee clip. Much easier to slide up or down the rubber tube and tighten.

I have not looked into doing any modifications but this is easy to do with the right tool.

You just need pliers with a tip that is wide enough to grab all three prongs on the clamp to open it up then slide it down the hose just far enough (about an inch or so) so you can reach in and pull the hose off.
I have a pair of lineman pliers that works for this.
Note: Remember that you will need to open the clamp up again when you reattach the hose. So leave the clamp in a good position for you to go back in with the pliers and grab the three prongs again.

To reattach, I reach in with my left hand and push the hose all the way on then go back in with the lineman pliers to open the clamp and slide it back into position.

I rerouted the breather and installed a small filter on the end. Also did the CCT, clutch basket, Barnett pressure plate, K&N air filter, plugs, cleaned throttle bodies.
The annoying 3200 RPM shudder is totally gone. All that work took a total of about 4 hours and I was cleaning and lubing everything along the way. Thanks for the replies. I know the rerouted breather will be better than sending oil vapors into the air filter and gumming up throttle bodies over time.

So... did you then cap the hole into the air box? ;)

But why? It's simple, it works, there's no maintenance to it, it's not robbing horsepower, it's not unsightly.

Because it is continually pushing oil vapor back into your air filter, throttle bodies, and I simply don't like it. Now I don't have that mess, or have to disconnect and reconnect it when I want to access the top end of the motor.
It does work by producing and element not required by the motor.
There is maintenance required to clean up after it in terms of air filter and throttle body cleaning.
It is not rrobbing horsepower or unsightly...unless you are me. Unecessary = unsightly.
Not trying to convince anyone else to do it. Just reporting on what I did.

I've done this too. It makes plugs far easier to get at,particularly with big hands,a bad back and slightly dodgy knees. The satisfaction of 2 bolts and an electrical connector is pure bliss. Routed the vent hose down to the bashplate with the tank vent hoses. All good so far,and I did plug the airbox inlet for said hose.
