Wow Bigbore that is some serious mod money you dropped at one time but you will be pleased I'm sure sounds like good choices all around. I'm going with the stock side boxes and liners, no crash bars don't plan to go off road at all. Also adding the stock skid plate to protect the oil filter from road debris and some other knick knacks I have in mind.

So after reading this thread more times than I can count, as well as info on ADVrider, and talking to a very helpful Dereck from Twisted Throttle at IMS Minneapolis, I bit at Twisted Throttle. SW Motech racks and Twisted offers their flavor of Pelican cases. Price was right etc. If you visit them at an IMS show ask about show specials.

They ship not drilled so you can set the placement of the bag as you wish. Gonna have to seriously consider the reverse strategy, bracket on lid. Has some merit. I went with he 35 liter Pelican / Storm case. The Twisted Throttle variant comes with a metal hinged strap to restrain the lid, however this case appears to have a built in stop, the lid stops at about 90 degrees.

As long as I was spending money like a drunken liberal, I also ordered bag liners, SW Motech crash bars, Denali LED light kit and a Kaoko throttle lock.

And I still aint done, and I still aint got the bike.....

In the FWIW dept.... Got an E-mail (after asking) from Rick at Xplorermoto.com. Al Jesse is currently working on bags for the S10. Supposed to be available before May. I'll probably be going with these (after I get more info). Have had great luck with Jesse bags and like how tightly they hug the body. The Odyssey II's are also adjustable fore and aft. Like that a lot!

Just spoke with Roger a Caribou Cases. He said that they should have the Hepco Becker racks for the S10 later next week. A set of side cases and the rack should be around $800. I'm leaning towards the 35l or 36l cases. The Micatech cases are on the short list but the Caribou's seem to be the best bang for the $$$. I'm going to sleep on it for the weekend and see...

If you get in on the group buy, you'll be at nearly the same price point. Saying that, the Micatech's quality is excellent. I have pelicans now and I know for certain I am getting a much better system with Micatech's. My .02.

TwistedThrottle.. actually, I think it's almost the same... around $800 either way right?

The deluxe cases would be the ones that compare to the caribou cases.
so...

* Sidecarriers fior the S10: $254.99
* Pelican adapters with 2 cases: $399.99
* Deluxe Upgrade $115.99
Total $770.97

That's still an almost $30 savings and you can get them now w/SW-Motech carriers just wanted to clarify the deluxe cases would be the ones that compare - please let me know if I'm off track on that.

I don't know what makes the Pelican cases Twisted Throttle sells different that Carabou Pelican cases but I would say probably yeah... Deluxe may be a closer comparison. I did not look. We try not to compare our goods to the competition out of respect. We just sell it on what makes it good and hope that it is what you are looking for. We all ride and feel lucky to be able to improve and make stuff that makes riding better - and get paid to do it.

FYI - the cases we sell are the Pelican iM2600. Full Specs here: http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/5572/614/

I understand and wasn't trying to pit one vendor against another in any way.. The Caribou cases have the case locks so they closely match your deluxe case..

To be fair Kev, to really make this comparable with the Caribou system you must add the $116 for the deluxe upgrade to get keyed alike locks and the lid stays. Caribou also has many case capacity options.

Twisted throttle cost: $770.97 + shipping
Caribou w/ SW racks: $749.99 + shipping with your choice of case

Also have no vendor loyalty on this subject and didn't mean to duplicate information.

Kev,

What kind of group buy can Twisted Throttle do for a full set up of SWM racks, and Trax cases. Top 38L, Side 37L, Side 45L, Locks, and what ever hardware is needed. I know one company that has them listed for $5-$10 less for each case than you guys, but I have bought from you in the past and always had great service so I would like to go with you again. Plus there are a few other things I like to add to my order.

We have an ever standing group buy that you guys can apply to just about anything at any time. Here is the rundown of how it works:

Group Buys and Club Discounts

TwistedThrottle.com currently offers a 10% discount when a group orders at least 15 similar items or $3,000 (before discount), whichever is greater, of an individual TwistedThrottle.com product. Group discounts are not offered for one or two individuals fully outfitting their bikes who spend a total of $3,000; rather, group discounts are reserved for groups that are ordering items to outfit at least 15 motorcycles through one order to TwistedThrottle.com.

All products must be shipped to the same address in order to qualify for a group buy discount. Items ordered through a group buy may, if defective, be exchanged for a like item; however, items ordered through a group buy cannot be returned for a refund or exchange for a different item. Such exchanges of defective items may only be made by the person organizing the group buy.

All products must be charged to the same credit card or paid for via a single money order or certified check in order to qualify for a group buy discount.

Outside of this group buy policy, TwistedThrottle.com does not currently offer a discount to members of any Internet discussion groups or motorcycle clubs.

Those interested in arranging a group buy should contact TwistedThrottle.com in advance and place the order over the telephone.
So if you guys are interested let me know and I will put you in touch with the right person to get it done the right way.

I would doubt that anyone is going to want to participate in a single address, single payer arrangement, but I could be wrong. Good luck with that. ???

So you want one brave person to put all the money up, take all the risk, try having all those that promised to buy an item buy it, to save a few dollars for some friends. Hmmmmm, not sure if I like those odds. :(

I can see how this would work out well if there were two riders that are close friends and live near each other.

No one is asking one person to put all of the money up. We are just asking one person to coordinate the purchase. Twisted Throttle got it's start when Erik Stevens imported a pallet of V-Strom stuff from SW-MOTECH who did not have a true US distributor. It went so well that he was hounded by V-Strom guys to do it again and again. Now look where we are.

I just had a great idea..... Rally / TECH Day purchase. Some time in June or July (when everyone is guaranteed to have their bikes) pick a central location where the most of you can meet up and have all of the gear shipped there. You could install the gear the way Henry Ford would have: assembly line style.

Very much unlike the group buy on the HDB top clamps and the V2 Micatech bags where the vender just provided a coupon for the group to use and have each person pay for and receive individual shipping. Like I said earlier, good luck with that. ::)

That won't work. The rules say:

Group discounts are not offered for one or two individuals fully outfitting their bikes who spend a total of $3,000; rather, group discounts are reserved for groups that are ordering items to outfit at least 15 motorcycles through one order to TwistedThrottle.com.

I'm considering the Trax top box with Pelican side cases. I like the depth of the Trax top box and the warranty of the Pelicans in case they get damaged.
