Got this announcement from Sena today:

Premium HD Speakers are coming soon for your Sena device! In just a few weeks, Sena will be launching HD Speaker accessory kits for the 10C Pro, 10C EVO, 20S, 20S EVO, and 30K. Users will be able to upgrade to the same premium Sena HD Speakers first seen with Sena’s flagship 50R and 50S devices. The updated speaker kits offer a marked increase in volume, bass boost, and clarity for a noticeably enhanced audio experience while riding. Sena will also be rolling out upgrades for each device’s firmware to ensure HD Speaker audio quality is maximized. In addition to the revised hardware of the HD Speakers and updated device firmware, users will also see a new audio equalizer function within the Sena Utility App (or 30K Utility App) for custom adjustments on device audio levels. Stay tuned for more details closer to the release of the HD speaker kits.
Cause cardo is killing them. This is good. Sena and cardo should be competitive with each other. Consumers win.

I really appreciate all your replies and advice. Thank you

I've narrowed it down to the Sena 10S and Cardo Freecom 1+. I think both would do what I want them to do

Although I like the design of the Sena I am concerned it's not waterproof....you have to remember I live in the North West of England.......and I can get a Cardo for just over half the price of the Sena!

I'm presently using a Cardo Scala Rider Q1. Has anyone used a Q1 and a Freecom 1+/Sena 10S? How much better are the modern ones?

Thanks again

Mike

Like my packtalk, never tried to talk to other riders though. Paired up with both my Android phone and the Garmin 595. Gotta mention though- they offer a JBL speaker upgrade. I went for them. Not a worthwhile improvement, for me anyway. The increase sound quality was minimal. But now the speakers sit closer to my ears, the diameter was larger, and they would not sit back in the helmet depressions quite as far. My one ear gets bent putting on the helmet, I have to wiggle it around to get things comfy now. HJC modular helmet, I use pinlock ear plugs often.

I have a 10s and SMH10. Seen loads of rain never had a problem. I use ear buds instead of the speakers. Sound is excellent. I use a flip up lid which makes it si much easier to put on with the buds in. The wire over the ear are best and stay put quite well.

I love my Cardo pack talk bold with the JBL speakers. Pair it with my phone for music and an occasional call(don't like taking calls when riding but sometimes required). Voice commands are easy, sound is very good I think, and its easy to install and learn how to use.

Never had a water problem with our 10s and definitely not with the 20S in years of ownership and commuting.

Thanks for everyone's input

I finally decided on the Cardo Freecom 1 which I am hoping might solve a problem with my Cardo Q1.

I've started a new thread on this
