ABS Test Couplers

So as far as I can tell the Yamaha ABS test couplers are unobtainoum now. I ordered the last one I saw as in stock from a random Yamaha dealer but it turns out they were wrong.

Anyway that said I know it's not completely necessary and I have gone through procedure without but I'm thinking of making my own. I have two questions for the group:

1: Could I see a photo fo the Yamaha ones? I've only seen crapy illustrations. I'm curious how they dealt with the two test leads on it (two terminals are just a looped wire, the other two leads).

2: If I decided to do this I could bulk up and offer them for sale. I haven't even started with this yet but I should be able to source the connector and terminals in bulk if I can figure out what they are. Figure that I could probably make them for no more than $15 shipped for site members possibly less. eBay price would be a bit more. Any interest?

Thoughts?

You couldn't buy one 7 years ago either.
When I researched this, IIRC, I think the other 2 leads are for a battery voltage check.

K&L Supply lists one for 12-13 Gen 1's and 03-12 FJR's. I don't know if they are still available.

I know it was for multimeter use, didn't realize itw as as simple as voltage check. The Yamaha literature can be a bit vague at times.

I see that, thanks. It says "please call for price" though which leads me to believe it may be out of stock.

The 4 pin connector under the seat is what we are talking about? It's a Sumitomo mt series connector. The connector under the seat where the 4 rubber plugs are is actually already fitted with both mating halfs. You unplug the half that has the rubber plugs you can see the pins in the other half. It seems like only the 3 pin type are commonly sold. I see the 4 pin type on amazon, but they come direct from China.

It's slightly different than the four pin series from elsewhere on the bike but uses the same pins so I think it's just a question of either a keyed connector or a sister series.

FYI Digikey and Mouser are good sources for things like this but you're talking bulk buying which is why I'm thinking of selling them if there is interest.

I don't see the problem here. The Yamaha ABS test coupler is discontinued but readily available online or ordered at any local dealer.

That's who I was referring to, actually. Annoying that it is still listed on their website as in stock. I haven't been able to actually find a place that didn't feel scammy I could order it from.

That is a bummer. I just used a stripped wire to activate mine.

Yeah I used a wire with connectors on it to achieve the same when I bled my brakes on my last maintenance cycle. It works well enough but I'll definitely be making a connector for down the road (unless I can find them from a real vendor, my angle really isn't trying to make money on this) I plan to own this pig for a long time.

That's cool. If you decide to make a few I'm willing to buy one from you.
