ABS Off switch question

I just bought and installed a ABS OFF switch from OTR-Performance GmbH.

I installed it according to the instructions that came with it. ( Unplug the ABS fuse, connect two wires into the empty fuse holder, install the original fuse into a fuse holder on the wire going to the handlebar switch. )

It works fine except that when I push the switch to ON ( my understanding then you have the ABS ON ) it then disables the ABS. I have to push the handlebar switch to OFF to have normal ABS.

I tried to switch the wires in the ABS fuse holder but still the same ????.

I sent the OTR-Performance GmbH a email and they want me to send the switch back to them for checking, I dont like to do that bc of shipping , custom charges ,,,. I can well live with this but there must be some simple fix.

Any suggestion from someone that understand electronics better than I do ??

I think what you have there is a cheap switch out of China, unfortunately this seems to be more common than you think, I also bought an 'expensive' harness kit only to find that it does exactly what you describe........ the opposite of what is shown on the switch.

Ys you might be right on this. So probably best to either buy a new good quality switch or take this one apart and wire it correctly myself. ( But it was NOT cheap to buy , so shame on them if it is indeed a Cheap chinese junk they are selling for a high price. I somehow trusted it would be a good quality bc its from Germany O:)

::025:: ::025:: ::025:: It's good to see you have a sense of humour ::013:: Every business in every country is out to maximise profits, the Swiss or Germans are no different.

But personally I would leave it alone and be done with it.

It sounds like the switch they use in their kit is NC (normally closed, where the circuit is complete when the switch is in the OFF position), and turning the switch ON breaks the circuit. You could always think of the system as ABS disable is ON, and restoring ABS is turning the disable circuit OFF...

You nailed it. Perception is a funny thing. It's an in-line fuse holder, a cheap on/off switch, a couple of connectors and some wire and you paid an outrageous amount of money for it. You could make your own for about $5 USD. Great profit margin for OTR. :D I could make one up from the misc stuff in my garage in about 5 minutes.

Gotta agree with EricV and AvGeek on this. Some of the vendors like OTR, TT, and nearly any aftermarket BMW place are outrageous highway robbers.

If you are able to disassemble the switch, that'd probably be quick and best. Otherwise, just re-label it. You can get labels at most bigger electronics stores where you can get computer parts, such as MicroCenter, Fry's, etc.

It is probably just an NO/NC rocker switch and whoever assembled the kit put the wire on the wrong spade
