I have a tail bag that bungies down to my tail rack and I always worry that the bungies will get cut and break plus it can easily get stolen. So I made a top box out of a 40 dollar gun case from harbor freight. I didn't want a huge top box or spend $500 bucks on a givi so here is what I did, I had some 1/4 inch aluminum laying around so this made my base and it is secure to my tail rack this case is also water proof and dust proof and it holds all my stuff perfectly. I think it looks good and it has 2 places where you can put locks. You actually can't see exactly how much stuff I have in this box but I have enough room for all my tools patch kit locks windshield cleaner tire pump and several microfiber towels and extra gloves....please don't hold the HD gloves against me..Those are just extras

Looks awesome! Almost did the same but then I realized I could make a Givi mount for one of my trekker 33L double hinged side cases and use it as a top box for the day to day.

IF i plan a longer ride ill likely end up doing something like that to have 3 boxes total.

BTW. What seat is that?

I'm amazed you noticed my seat, That is the stock seat, we have a guy here in Denver called Bitchen Stichen and he completely takes your stock seat apart and customizes it to your butt. He flatens it out and widens it and put more of a rise near the tank all for 350 bucks. You spend the day with him you are on and off the bike until he has it perfect. It is one of the best seats I have ever had on any of my bikes

Haha, it caught my eye... i was like, wait, that looks stock ... but not. Which now makes sense. Been trying to figure out what seat to go with that wont break the bank.

One more set of questions, that madstad windshield, what size is it? and how tall are you? (im also looking to go that route too cus the stock windshield is uh.. yeah).

Thanks for the reply. Great lookin bike.

Bitchen stichen has been around since the 90's he make really custom seats so mine was a piece of cake for him.
The madstad is worth every penny if you get one get the bracket too. You can adjust it really low amd it works wonders. I ordered the light smoke and it was almost clear so I had to buy a new one dark smoked but they gave me a huge discount.
I'm 5'11" amd I believe the screen is 20"s. I'll double check when I get home and if diff. I'll let you know

here are some better pics of what Bitchen Stichen did to my seat, he basically modeled it after an old time tractor seat, he also shaved the front of my passenger seat so my back doesn't rub against it. He shaved the back of the seat and widen it also it supports my thighs a lot more, he raise the front so it is quite a bit higher than stock. He had to sow new leather on the sides but he kept the stock look. Also what I did on the underside of the seat where the rubber risers are I removed the tall ones and replace them with short ones in the back, you can get those off amazon

These are some very poor pictures of my Makita top box. Just the right size for everyday bits and pieces. It didn't leak in 2 days of rain. At first I clipped it on using the Givi mount, but I didn't trust the clip I modified for the job. It now has screws holding it on. I removed the inner molding with a multi tool.

I like it especially when we can reuse stuff and it looks nice on the bike too. My 2 paniers hold all the stuff I need so I like a nice sleek looking top box
