Im toying with the idea of doing a around trip fastest route which will be 8550 more or less. If I decide to go in the next 2 weeks im looking to do it in 14-18 days. Im aiming at 500 to 800 miles per day. However Ive never done more then 450 miles back to back. Im looking to camp most of the way. I have done many long distance rides however it was in 5400 miles. I image Its about the same and my question is does anyone have any tips that might help? I will be going though canada which I have been to before so I know how difficult they can be to cross

1. You missed the season and are going to get stuck in snow.

2. Work up to such a long ride. Do a number of back to back days in preparation because long distance takes a unique set of muscles and habits.

3. Not a biggie but please think about starting threads in a sub-forum so us few mods don't need to move them. Thanks

I did the four corners tour twice, but quite a while back, 1990 and 1991. I did it in June both times on a 1979 Kawasaki KZ1000. Even in June it was cold a lot of the way. I would suggest June-Sept best bet for a ride that is not too cold. I don't consider hot a problem though as a lot of riders do.

I'm with you. It's easy to stay hydrated in the heat, and it doesn't hurt; excluding sunburn. But....when fingers and toes get cold....and stay cold.... Never again. They're right, wait 'till summer. I'd do the southwest first in June while it's at it's coolest though.
