Just my opinion……don’t stress over bike theft. Take a reasonable disc lock and use it. If staying in hotels, probably best to use places with secure parking. If thieves get through a disc lock, they were taking the bike anyway. I’ve travel by bike in Europe and lots of it, at least once a year since the mid 80s. Never had anything stolen and neither has anyone in the groups I travel with.

Le Mans and Bol D’or weekends are a different story, however it’s specifically targeted due to the huge numbers attending.

Where possible, park next to a KTM, GS or XR, they’ll nick them instead.
A part of my plan is to ride with a BMW r 1250r so they might look at it instead of my S10... lol
I don't think much about bike theft living in a small town but I did consider buying a disk lock ( I don't own one at the moment ).
I really appreciate your knowledge.
Thank you!

I have great memories of Paul Richard Bol D’or trips, but back then I was in my 20s and early 30s, it was a massive adventure. Looking back though, god it was rough! Everything was on a budget, ridiculous miles per day to get there and back, very little sleep, but such good fun at the time. Me and a mate rode home from Bandol in one hit once. That was hard going.
Then there was the toilets…………..
we went down there in 1989, 1990, 1992, we use to ride the bikes down to bandol park on the sand and swim in the sea great times
i was 30 in 1992 so yes late twenties for me to

Here in Portugal S10 aren't prone to theft. Hard to sell. You will likely always be fine with locking the steering and an alarm disc lock.

Just noticed you are from North of Italy, I hope to make the opposite trip one day (ride there to the dolomites from Lisbon, here in Portugal). If you need any help or advice let me know, I'm sure you'll have a great time here!

I am not worried about theft to be honest....
Maybe because I am naive maybe because if it happens it happens...
If and when you come over let me know because I ride very often the Dolomites....
I pass through Moena very often and the valley there is beautiful indeed.

My buddy is moving to Portugal in FEB 2023.....

So I am interested as well.
So based on my on experience definitely ride the N2....
One of the best roads I have ever rode!
I got lost somewhere on top of Porto and went through kilometres and kilometres of vineyard.
Outstanding....
Cabo the Roca is a sort of Mecca for us European being the most western point and in my opinion well worth the ride from Italy.
People are very friendly and willing to help .
The beaches as mentioned from the forum members here are something else out of this world.
Once I will put some videos/pictures together if you are interested I will share them with you.
