Serious set of figures and impressive reading, those service intervals are class leading, surely? Sounds like an incredible bit of kit, I bet it’s great to ride!

Looks superb too!

Be careful ! I got sucked in to the 2010 Multistrada Hype pre-ordered one thought it was the greatest thing ever until I started riding it, ended up selling it after less than 1 year of owning it. I thought I was buying an ADV bike what it is is a dressed up super bike. The only time I enjoyed riding it was on twisty paved roads way past any posted speed limit or the occasional 80mph power wheelie other than that a very boring bike due to its high HP motor.

All my super powerful 17" front wheel bikes can be described that way. Ride them so fast you're risking a ride in the back of a police cruiser, or ambulance; or ride them near the speed limit and be bored to death on the bike.

Good to see Ducati has gone with a 19/17 tire setup. That should help a lot. But starting at $24K for a chain drive bike... I just don't see one ever being a realistic option for me.

Like DD said. . . . you can only use so much HP. . . . without bad things happening. And . . . . on two wheels. . . . they happen faster & worser. She's no high maintenance Debbie Smith, she's the girl next door who's always fun to be with.

Ducati has done the unthinkable (for them) with this bike and dumped the Desmo valve system for a conventional spring valve mechanism. That's in part, how they get such long service intervals. Looks beautiful and capable but too expensive and potentially unreliable for my tastes.

The Superbikes just don't excite me at all. No reason whatsoever to own one unless I was racing track. The few big HP KTM and Ducatis I have ridden put out so much heat it's like a human weenie roast in between my legs.

A Superbike with ADV ergos? You have my attention Ducati. Now, if I only had a spare $25K laying around.......
Make sure you ride one first. I could not get the Multistrada ergos to fit even with the adjustable brake pedal. It rated right down the ladder alongside the BMW GS for comfort. But boy oh boy what a motor!! It's a rocket!! I cannot imagine how powerful the V4 is going to be.....

If it's like most high HP motorcycles, and I'm sure it is, have to ride at 10,000-2 billion rpm to get power. Dufus guys that ride in shorts and tennis shoes that enjoy making noise riding around at 12,000rpm, then the greatest thing ever I'm sure. Days of that are long ago for me.

I'm surprised at how easily addressed that issue has been. Ride with my beaded seat cover, never have heat cross my mind. Take it off, heat is front and center... and distracting.

Also there's air box, exhaust, and mapping solutions to reduce heat.

I hear you Ron. And lets face the fact that there are very few that even have the skill set to ride on of these super bikes at even 50% of their potential. There are no public highways in North America where you can unleash the power either.

I dare say my Super Tenere is even way more bike than I am. I have found my single cylinder 50hp dual sport to be perfect for just about any distance or condition I come across on or off highway. A simple swap to 17" motard wheels and with 2 equal riders aboard, a Multistrada will be left in the dust through the twisty's.

I was very interested in this new Ducati too. But past Ducati's I have ridden had all that wonderful power come in at high RPM's. In looking at the engine specifications, the 170HP comes in at 10,500 RPM and the Torque is 92 ft.-lbs. at 8,750 RPM. Compared to my R1250GS the HP is less at 136 but it peaks at 7,750 RPM but more importantly is Torque and it is 105 ft.-lbs. peak coming in at only 6250 RPM's!

Also, seems like the Ducati, by just looking at the pics, would be top heavy, hmm. Would like to Demo it, just for fun.

My GS eats up the twisties and can do off road great with all that low end Torque! I will stick with my GS.
