I have to admire the optimism. From my UK perspective, currently in Lockdown 3 for many weeks, if not months yet, I find it difficult to even think about significant travel prospects back home, let alone around Europe. Perhaps it's me, being a grumpy old git, maybe a tad over-cautious, but I just hate the idea of making exciting bike trip plans when there remains such a high risk of them being blown away by a knee-jerk of legislation.

So I shall adopt a wait & see approach for 2021 & hope for opportunities to open up next year once the vax programme has been rolled out fully.
Making travel plans for the future helps me keep optimistic - and sane.

I expect that we are in for a tough couple of months, but as the vaccines rollout and the season change, I both hope and believe that we will see a dramatic change in our circumstances.

Got tickets for Nick Sanders Mach event this year in Machynleth Wales and also the ADV weekend at Radley Hall. Never been to one of them before.
Just had to postpone my visit to MCT for the third time due to lock down.
Also booked to go to Prum in germany again this year with the ZX14R group. Always good fun.

First trip of 2021 tomorrow! Heading oop north to the Scottish Borders for a week, with an S1000XR, 2 KTM SAS and a Super Duke GT. Exploring each day from a base location nearish to Berwick, which is a new region for me.

Weather not looking great, but looking forward to it nonetheless. I’ll try and get some pics up.

I have been on the road for more than 3 weeks now and are on my way back home to Denmark from Portugal.
It has been a fantastic ride so far.
Plenty of space on the roads.
Good cheap accommodation available everywhere.
You can walk in from the street and get a table on some amazing restaurants where you normally have to book weeks in advance.
Hardly any tourists - no lines or crowds at tourist attractions
We haven't encountered border control between any of the countries.
Both my girlfriend and I are fully vaccinated and have a "Corona Passport" but no one have asked to see it...

Looks and sounds great Don! What countries have you been through on your trip? Are hotels open all over?

I have a PIcos trip planned for July, 10 of us in a rented property. Me and one other bike are travelling through France to get there, the rest on the ferry to Santander. Am a bit concerned about travel opening up.

Enjoy the rest of your trip......have fun!

I am so jealous ... do you have to quarantine when you get back?

Our group going to the Scottish Borders are all home testing before leaving, I’m on here while awaiting my result.

Returning from abroad in July for us Brits could be challenging.

Countries so far:

Germany - hotels officially not open to tourists, but transit is legal...
Switzerland - everything is open.
France - hotels are open.
Spain - everything is open
Portugal - everything is open.

If I was you, I wouldn't be concerned in the least - just while we have been travelling more things open up and less restrictions are in affect. When we passed through France the first time, there was curfew from 7 pm - now that is changed to 9 pm. When you get here there will be no more curfew.

I'll post a RR on Advrider, when I get home.

Thank you.....on the South West coast of Scotland. One in North Berwick, the other in Eyemouth. I’ll try to post more bike/scenic of Scotland pics during the week. The Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel tomorrow.
You are in for a treat. UK is one of my all time favorite destinations.
If the weather is too bad tomorrow, you are welcome to steal pictures of The Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel from my RR on Advrider ;)
