Thanks guys - someone had mentioned a gen 3 on a Facebook post which didn’t seem right!

A 2019 would be a DP07 (as opposed to the previous DP01 and DP04 models), and it at least has a different ECU mapping in the EU. Is that a new generation or an update to gen. 2? In any case, there are differences.

Who designated Gen 1 and Gen 2? Was/is that an official Yamaha title, or is that just something that we refer to?

In my mind there are two distinct generations. Meaning they made significant changes and parts won’t swap. Gauge cluster and input/controls are different. Windshield and mounts are different, Exhaust header is different, kickstand is different. Clutch basket is different, cam chain tensioner is different. Handlebars are different. Looking at the bike it “looks different”

The 19 does not look different. When you order farkles 14-19 fit. I would hope any manufacturer would make small improvements year to year. Different ecu map, slightly different rear rim, and graphics doesn’t designate a major change. IMO.

I wrote the exact same on here, when I got my 2019 European model (Denmark).
But also then the wise people here, said "No", just a 2 generation with updated mapping.
And that the VIN number didn't mean anything..... ;)

I have no clue, who have decided that there is two generations..
