Notice how far it is from the spoke to the flange. I believe the flange is thicker in the new one as well.

They cannot get any closer to the rim than they are.Kinda looks like they also moved the holes where the spokes go through the flange closer to the wheel rim leaving more material between the edge of the flange and the spoke holes. They look more centered in the width of the flange on the older wheel.

MY old eyes see a beautiful blue. But, I DO think that it would be the same fitment.….our would it turn up in purple....
Me either. Also have not seen these rims in person. I’m still wondering if these pictures are photoshopped.Strange, I can't find any online Yamaha dealer with 2019 S10 parts listed.
I would suspect this was done more so to keep the spokes the same length for backwards compatibility.Kinda looks like they also moved the holes where the spokes go through the flange closer to the wheel rim leaving more material between the edge of the flange and the spoke holes. Spareparts from the Scandinavian Yamaha page.
First picture from year 2017, where there are 2 models, so it seems to have changed already in 2017, because the one number is the same as in 2019 model.
No valve stem either. THAT is probably a bogus picture. This a picture of the Blue 19 wheel right off Yamaha's website. The rim is the same as older models, not beefed up. ?????
Assuming the wheel rim and hub have the same geometry as before, placing/moving the holes on the flange out on a slightly larger diameter would require longer spokes.I would suspect this was done more so to keep the spokes the same length for backwards compatibility.
Yup, there you go.Spoke part number is different too.
From what I see, the holes are in the same place, attached to the rim. The reinforcement is from the hole up. I don't think that at this point in the life of the S10, Yamaha will think about changing the spokes. The rim thing was a claim, but not the spokesAssuming the wheel rim and hub have the same geometry as before, placing/moving the holes on the flange out on a slightly larger diameter would require longer spokes
