My Manual is on order and should be in next week. I am wiring up my Aux Lights and I found my Aux Light Connector. (Man that thing is tucked in there) I have just got the 2018 ES model. I have been reading the site, and one common theme is....If you have the ES the heated grips use the 4 port connector, and the 3 port connector is for the lights.....I have the ES model, and my 3 port connector had a cap on it, Great ready for my lights......but I also have the 4 port connector near it, also with a cap on it? so what is my 4 port connector for. I do have heated grips and they work great. Any insight as to what the 4 port connector is meant to be used for?

Thanks for the info.

Do yourself a favor. Get the Eastern Beaver PC8 for the Super Tenere. It plugs into that 3P plug, then you have a bunch of power ed ports for accessories.

My '15 ES is the same, both an unused 3 and 4 P connector. I guess Yamaha wires up the grips differently from the factory vs. fitting after the fact?

Thanks gang. Yes I bought the eastern beaver 3 circuit sealed version. And yup I tested the 3 wire plug with the ohm meter. I will run my lights off the switched power so they will always be on. I will also use the switched power to trigger my eastern beaver relay.

That's correct, the 4 pin connector is redundant on the ES bikes, but Yam still left it in the loom for some unknown reason.

I rode my new 2018 Tenere ES (Canadian) home today and I'm going to add some LED'S to it.
I've got all components necessary, including the plug that is compatible with the bike's aux light plug. But I've been looking in detail under the right side cowls in the vicinity of the fuse panel and battery area...no luck.
Do I have to remove the battery to find it?
Anyone out there who can help me find this plug?
I'll post a picture of the area where I'm looking.
Thanks in advance.

The plug I am looking for should have a cap on it. Supposedly you remove the cap and plug in the compatible plug I sourced from Electrical connections in Kentucky.

A quick question please..... Where do I find this 3 port plug, what colour and which port are live, switched and ground. Perhaps someone can post a picture?

OK, so that was more than one question but they were all about the same subject ;)

It's all been explained if you use the search history.

Anyway, unscrew the RHS plastic cover (4 fixing), & pull away carefully from the top edge. Then look to the very front, where there is/should be a toolkit of sorts (HaHa) ; remove this & if you delve around behind there should be two connectors - one 4-wire for non-ES heated grips, one 3-wire for aux lights. Both the male & female elements are there, duly plugged off, so only compatible terminals are needed when wiring up. Some riders have found these OE connectors have been cropped off by previous owners/bodge fitters.

I can't recall the wiring colours off hand, but they are easily defined with a meter.

Pics and full description are in several threads here in the forum. As far as the 4-pin connector on the Gen 2 bikes, it is still available even though it is no longer used for the factory heated grips. There was a kit Yamaha offered that plugged into this connector for the Gen 1 bikes...

Does anyone know where to buy the female end of the 2018 ES Super Tenere? I just want to connect an LED. I do not need anything additional as I already have that wired. Pictures?
Hmmm, I think you mean the female plug that plugs into the bike's aux light plug located under the lower right hand panel to the right and above the top right corner of the battery. You will need a flashlight and a pair of locking pliers to pull it out.
I will try attaching a picture
I got mine from electrical connections. Com in Tennessee. Part number 08111 08112. Good to deal with.

Eastern Beaver sells the female connector and pins. Point of fact, you should already have the female connector, it just has black plugs instead of pins.

Push out the plugs, insert pins after wiring, now you have a connector.

PM me, I have one and pins, that I dont need.

Ahh, I got it. I just take the other side off and connect my wires to the male end that removes. Thank you.
Hmmm, the aux light plug has a cover or a cap on it.
This cover or cap as I call it is female
As Eric V pointed out you could add some pins and use this cap to wire your lights o whatever. Just be sure to use a relay so you will have power via the relay only when the key is on. The aux light plug is fused at 20 amps.
Look at my pictures again I sent a picture of the plugs I bought from electrical connections. Com

When I had to have some error codes eraised recently on my ES the diagnostic was plugged into the 4 pin connector next to the 3 pin.
