I made it home today. Ivonne flew home from Atlanta last Tuesday. The highlight of the trip home was a stop at The Barber Museum. I rode home from there with overcast skies and a fair bit of rain.
I rode 10,025.6 kms in a month. I changed the oil at friens place in Asheville. We duscovered a spoke had lost its mipple and replaced it with one that fits but is a liitle different. I also replaced 2 headlight bulbs and got new tyres in Houston

Some of may have read here that Ivonne had a malignant tumour removed in May. I thought then our bikes trip were over but 5 months later she was riding great roads in Tennesse and North Carolina.
Great trip and a great wife. 75E38A3B-14AA-43CB-9F04-FE9436DAF127.jpeg75E38A3B-14AA-43CB-9F04-FE9436DAF127.jpeg

We had a great time and it was good to see everyone again. Fine paved and dirt roads. Could not ask for any better.
Thank you Patrick and all that had a hand in this Rally.
I took what could have been a cool pic of your drone.

From where I was sitting, my view of the drone was thru a gap in the branches of a tree in which there was a spider in a web. I had full zoom on a cell phone to get it, so it's a crap picture, but the idea of a spider catching a tiny drone (the drone was much further away than the spider) was interesting to me.

Good idea. That would have been a cool shot to see.

Stop with the spider pictures. I saw him in person.
It was RIGHT ABOVE YOUR HEAD!!

I heard a noise coming from your tent the second night, so I peeked in. You were asleep, but that spider was crawling across your face. It wasn't obvious why, but then I saw she was just trying to get to your helmet, so she could lay some eggs in the air vents.

Pretty sure she crapped in your breakfast, too.

Thank you
Kidding aside, it was nice meeting and riding with you, camp neighbor. I'm not sure I thanked you profusely enough for the flashed test-ride.

...speaking of which, backwards kharma: when I was heading back to Hunt's on your bike, I took a bug in the neck. Didn't think much of it until I got a stabbing pain in the belly a few minutes later. At home, I took my shirt off and my wife screams "Oh my God - what the heck happened to you?"

I have 5... FIVE... wasp bites on my stomach. Itched for days.

... so I already paid in advance for that spider-laying-eggs-in-your-helmet joke.

Sounds bad. Glad you enjoyed the test ride. I've always had a thing for spiders. Wasps, hornets and bees aren't to far behind. Hope it's clearing up.

Yes, I know this is an old thread. But I suspect it was at this event, when the old toothless lady backed over my bike, breaking a few parts here and there, that caused me to spend some money today. My top case (and mirror) seemed to take the worst of it. I'm guessing that's when this started.

It got worse on the Colorado trip. At one point I rode through a small water crossing and looked back to see Steve Reno sitting there pointing at my top case laying on the ground. After that I kept hearing a metallic click everytime I put any pressure on the top case.

Today finally got it fixed. Found a great welder who spent some time making it stronger than new.

Now I hope all the damage done by the scared old woman is finally behind me.

Although this never would have happened had it not been for your actions that weekend, you are held harmless for this one. It was a great weekend. Like I told the lady who hit the bike...'you have a nice day.'

I still say if this is the worst thing that ever happens to this bike, I'm way ahead in life. So far that is holding true.

so on a serious note, I came across (in my closest) some left over stickers and T-shirts from the rally. I have a 2XL and 2 or 3 Large shirts. Several stickers.

I am thinking I dont need these, any folks interested in them? I can ship them out if you PP me the $$$ to cover the cost. If not I am guessing they will just disappear..........
