What would be a good purchase price for a new 2018 Non-ES Tenere considering it's now 2yrs. Old. ? I seen a new 2019 which is an ES model for $13,500 OTD.

That would be THIS ONE

'18 non-ES bikes show up on CycleTrader for $10,990 to $16,199. But it's about how far you are willing to go to get a better price. You can find one in UT for $14k, but that's not OTD. I bought my '12 from that dealer, though under a different dealer name. There is one in Gadsden, AL for $12,485. The cheapest non-ES showing up is $10,990 in Woodinville, WA. Might be a fun ride home, but figuring out a route to avoid snow will be a challenge. And again, that's not OTD pricing.

Remember that the '20 model year has no non-ES. They are only selling the ES T-12 and the T-7 now. So new, non-ES bikes are getting scarce. And the ES color scheme is fugly.

I seem to recall the ES and Std were about $1500 apart originally with MSRP. But it's all about availability and demand. I'd try to get them down to something around $12k for a non-ES. Suggest that you can wait until Spring and just do a fly and ride where ever as a fun vacation. You're doing them a favor by buying now. Anything over $12k and you might as well just get the ES, IMHO.

Edit - I'll be happy to ride the one in Gadsden, AL over to you in OkC if you buy it. Just get me a plane ticket back to Memphis and cover some gas to Gadsden & back for the wife, gas for the ride and a hotel room in Gadsden for a night. ;)

Thanks for the generous offer to pick up my bike and deliver it ;), Thanks buddy.
I agree not over $12k for the 2018 Non-ES, dealers asking more. I was told today the $1k customer cash offer ended 12/31/19. Think the 2019 ES model would be the better deal at this point. What is the color of the 2019, primer grey? I'd have to put a wrap on the tank, maybe match the blue wheels, it is fuggly.

I'd give some thought to where you will have to take it for service/ warranty issues. I could have saved some if I'd have driven a ways, but our dealer offers MSF classes, the shop guys are always willing to give me some hints about service. They have been there a long time, and now they recognize me every time I walk in. And my money stays in the area. It isn't always about saving the last buck.

I'm with dannyv. Being local, and a good price....no brainer to me. Besides, I prefer an ES.

I agree totally, IF you have a good dealer. Sadly, I've not had a good local dealer for a long time. I used to drop my bike off and take 5 buses across town to get home. Lately I've been riding 350 miles to a rocking dealer with outstanding techs that are Yamaha 5 star trained/certified and KNOW their shit. I get a hotel room the night before, drop the bike off the moment they open and they get it done for me by noonish so my late check out at the hotel across the parking lot, plus a leisurely lunch, usually does the trick for a valve adjustment. And I'm good with that over the local dealer because they charge $20 less an hour, document EVERYTHING in Yamaha's system and do a great job.

The local guy has a good tech that rides an FJR with 200k plus on it and I think he knows his shit, but they charge book time and $90/Hr and I just don't get a warm fuzzy when the service writer says "if it's not making noise, no point in checking the valves". He doesn't understand that the valves get tight, not loose, and won't make any noise. Sure, the motor won't blow up. But I like my bikes to last. Preventative maintenance is key to that.

@Okscooter - Just trying to enable you brother! ;)

@MFP - I like you Frank, but "Ceramic Ice" reminds me of a muddy puddle at the curb. :D

I tend to agree. However, I just purchased a 2018 ES from a dealer 500 miles away for $700 less than than the dealer an hour away wanted for the 2018 non-ES. I gave him a shot at his best OTD price, but at least I gave him a shot.

Don't mean to offend anyone but when I saw the 2019 on the showroom floor today I thought it was primer grey, maybe just the lighting.
I try to do all the maintenance on my bikes, ever pull a fuel tank on a 1800 Goldwing to get to the rear shock or just change the air filter. o_O
Once I took my rubber band drive Harley to the dealer they didn't tighten the rear axle nut. Surprised I didn't wipeout on the way home as the rear wheel was running way crooked, belt about to come off. Haven't taken a bike to the shop since unless it's warranty or recall.

There are only 3 painted pieces, unless you want to add the front fender &/or big side panels, so we've had members both wrap and paint new bikes to their own taste. Of course, to some people painting a new bike is sacrilege.

Other than the valves (26,000 miles), mx on this bike is easy normal Jap bike stuff and it's rock reliable. No CANBUS, dealer diagnostic requirements, waiting for parts from overseas, etc. Since essentially the same bike has been in production since 2010 there are tons of aftermarket parts at relatively low prices.

Coming from the Wing you'll probably appreciate it, but the ride will be quite different. Moving from the easy chair to a kitchen chair; Cadillac to a Chevy Tahoe.

I did the same looking for a long time and waiting. I ended up finding a 2018 ES with 17k miles for $10,250 OTD and had a bunch of upgrades on it. With that few of miles it is still a baby. They are out there and patience sux but worth it. You’ll find the one you like!

Same here, local dealers usually didn't have a Tenere and if they did wanted MSRP for it so I kept looking until I found what I was looking for. Ended up with a used 2018 ES with bags, crash bars, first service completed, and only 1000 miles on it. Seller only lived 170 miles away from me. Waiting was the pits but I think it was worth it in the end by getting what I was looking for.

I was looking in April, so more options. The bike '15 I bought in '17 was still under the original 12 month warranty, having been sold as a left over in August of '16. Only 3k miles and I flew in, picked it up, spent a pleasant evening with friends and rode the 1k miles home the next day in beautiful weather. don't be afraid to stretch your legs a little on a fly and ride.

Y'all can forget about the '18 at Ride in Woodinville WA. Motivated dealer, I took it off their hands this afternoon! The bike had some minor scratches / shipping damage but nothing that a little DIY repair can't fix. Discount was too good to pass up Came with a full warranty and I convinced them to sell me a 4-year YES at $100 over D&H.

Time to de-farkle the '12 and move everything to the '18.
