A group of us are going to be riding out of Arrowhead Cabin & Canoe in Caddo Gap, Arkansas on the Weekend of March 7,8 & 9. Like some other group rides note, this is not a sanctioned or organized ride but is simply a group of us wanting to enjoy riding and floating the Caddo River. Because of this, you are on your own regarding lodging, food and your choice of riding etc... The only cost is what you decide to do in terms of lodging, food and float rentals.

My brother owns Arrowhead Cabin and Canoe in Caddo Gap so it's certainly bike friendly. He has cabins, RV spots, a bunk house and tents spots. You can go to his site to view the area, get directions and make reservations if you need.

The original plan was to ride a full day Friday, 1/2 day Saturday and float in the afternoon. However, after the preride and visit to Arrowhead on 2-22, the river is quite low and whether it will be floatable is in question. The weather forecast is also calling for temps to still be quite cool, so the interest in floating may be limited. So, I believe the revised plan will be Free Ride Friday, big all day ride led by Oleary on Saturday and Free Ride or Float on Sunday if there is interest and the river level/weather cooperates.

I wasn't able to go on the pre ride so my plans have changed in that I will be riding my DRZ instead of the Tenere. Those that did ride said it was doable on the Tenere with only a couple of rocky sections.

I think it will be a good time for all either way.

Hey Greg, I will most likely be staying in a cabin but the bunkhouse will definately be available. Just note this a "bring your own linens" type place, whether you stay in a cabin or bunkhouse.

Regarding the ride, a preride was done this past weekend. I wasn't able to ride but was told it is doable on the Tenere, but there are a few tricky spots. Depends how
experienced off road you are. Since I wasn't able to see the ride firsthand, I think I will go ahead and ride solo on my DRZ on Friday. Then I'll ride 2 up with my son on the Tenere on Sat. and he will float with me... if we can float. Note that the water level is a bit too low for a good float at the moment.

You can read the ride report and see a short video clip to give you an idea of what we'll be riding. Definately not single track or anything that appears that tough, but I don't want to risk it riding with my Son... and I also don't really have an offroad worthy skid plate on mine, The Yamaha plate that came on mine just isn't worth much and it makes me a bit nervous going into uncharted territory. I need to go ahead and drop the money on a real one like the Altrider, definately before the Tenere Rally.

I think it will be a good time for all.

ArkieTenere thank you for the reply it looks like a great time. But i think it will be to cold for the ride down. I have not rode off road for 15 years. But i did race hare scrambles in the a class till i turned 40. i love adventure, racing , and making new friends. I just bought the tenere and have 200 miles on it and can 't wait to ride.

Sounds good Greg. Maybe you can make to Arkansas for the Rally in the fall.

I made some adjustments to the plan on the original page after the preride

Greg,
We are going to stay at our cabins in Glenwood next weekend and may ride over for Saturday. I have a route on my GPS that we may ride to the Mena area. I am leaving my S10 at home and we will ride our KLR's. Hope to see you guys there. BTW, the river is high enough to float, just not real fast.

Definately come on over to Arrowhead on Saturday morning and join us. We should have a pretty good group. You can go to the thread I linked earlier at Advrider and get the
planned track posted by Oleary.
