See if you can trace the wires.
While experimenting with various throttle mapping changes (using flash tune), I temporarily connected a toggle switch in place of the clutch switch so I could toggle between two maps while riding for an A to B comparison. The clutch switch selects the neutral map, so it was convenient for testing. Maybe this is an input to the ECU that is used by a custom flash?

The ECU has two maps normally referred to as T and S for Tour and Sport modes and the switch is beneath the starter. Sounds like somebody's simply wired in a switch on your left bar. There are numerous threads around here about having the ECU re-flashed to alter the modes to however you want them.

Ive seen similar things before where someone hard wired a toggle for the "clutch jumper mod" for the 2012-2013 bikes. You then can turn ON & OFF the clutch jumper mod.

Hello jbrown
I searched the site for Flash tune and saw your reference to using it and other maps, forgive me for bugging you with a stupid question but could I receive similar results to an Anthony reflash by purchasing the Flash tune and doing it myself. I wont have a dyno to tune my bike on, but it sounds like Flash tune provides different maps. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Flashtune provides stock maps and "unrestricted" maps that you can use as a starting point. The unrestricted maps just remove the throttle restrictions, and don't do any fueling changes. Tuning beyond that is up to you. If you are willing to experiment a bit, and you understand the risks of making errors in the fueling or ignition timing, then buying the flashtune interface might be right for you. If I recall Anthony's price, it will cost double that or more to get the flashtune and do it yourself. But you get to change it as often as you want. Flashtune does let people post their own custom maps to share with others, but there are few if any shared S10 maps available.

Thanks for the input, I have had my 2013 Tenere for about 6 weeks now and it feels very underpowered compared to my last bike , which was a 2007 V-strom 1000 with pc3 and 2 brothers exhaust,it would have eaten this tenere alive and sounded 10 times better. I am planning on decating, a new muffler, and a few other things, it seems like a lot of folks have done the reflash and it helps. I was a auto mechanic for 20 years and a auto instructor for 12 years after that, so fiddling with mechanical stuff is in my blood, thanks again for your info.

what's your mileage? spark plugs and stuff good? I mean the ST is a heavy bike, but i wouldn't call it underpowered, especially near sea level. You're in S mode not T right?
