    Ratchet straps

I also go with heavier duty straps. Buy them long than you need and then cut off lengths to make your own loops with water knot connections. I use two large loops around the triple tree (one on each side) and thread the end of the loop through the strap clamp so the strap is doubled. I also use...

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

AZ season coming to an end. One last ride out the Apache Trail. Bought my son a couple T-shirts at Tortilla Flat and on up to the road closure. Crowds and traffic are thinning out. It looks like they are starting to work on the closure. Hopefully by next winter the whole trail will be open...

WTB AltRider Lower and Upper Crash Bars

Wanting to trade up from Mastech bars. If you don't need the full protection but good protection for simple drops let me know. I would throw in a chunk of change with the trade. The Mastech have been used and are effective. I would sand and repaint.

    Advice needed about crash bars.

Revisited this thread after a buddies deer strike yesterday with Altrider Upper/lower combination. The bars did a remarkable job. All the left plastic was toast and the bars bent, but the radiator was intact and rode the bike 250 miles home. Too bad you can't buy them any more. If anyone has...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Replaced both my LED headlights. One of the Shengda 360 degrees failed at 49kMi and 45 months. Got a pair of Bullnuxi 360s on Amazon. Very similar. Happy with the performance and value. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C99FC2S4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Front Guard - Does it exist

Been there done that. My wolo horn was mounted where it would hit the brake cross over line under compression and push the back of the fender into the tire. My second fender lost a small chuck before I figured it out. The horn lost part of its bell so it ended up fitting here with clearance from...

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Plan was to do the 191 loop through the White Mountains in eastern AZ. Just about to our lunch stop at Hannigan Meadow when a deer tried to take out Randy. Big hit but he stayed up. Made it on to Hannigan Meadow, ordered lunch and called the wives to bring a trailer. I thought the radiator was...

    Lower steering bearing removal

Buddies bike he bought at 56k, currently over 70k. I'm sure they were original. Don't know if they were ever serviced, but it did not look like original grease. My bike has over 100k and still original bearings, serviced every 16k mi. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Hoped to ride the Mogollon Rim Road today. No go as the road was still closed. Went back down to lower elevations and discovered FR 64. Follows the Rim but looks up at the Rim rather than looking down. A controlled burn was going on so it was smoky at times. Back home through Young on 288. Less...

    Lower steering bearing removal

Besides a grease refresh, doing the maintenance rotates the bearing to different places in the race, prolonging wear. If you Don't do the maintenance the bearing sits in the same spot forever. First ride with my buddy today. He could not believe the difference. I told him I could barely ride...

    Lower steering bearing removal

My conclusion for this thread is this. DO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE! This is not a fun job, but it can be delayed or prevented by regular repacking of the bearings. If you buy a used (or even new) bike, these bearings should be checked and packed as one of your first tasks.
