    Honda NC750X

I don't ride as much as I used to in the winter months anymore, The city and county road crews around here started using this salt brine mixture on the roads anytime there is a chance of snow or ice. They spread it as a liquid before the expected weather and it dries to a powder. Makes a mess of...

    Oil Change Complication

The threads on the union on my 2013 were a little rough even when new. Always used Yamaha filters. Replaced it and bought a spare just in case, No big deal, $10 part. Cheaper than buying a set of thread files, unless of course you already have them.

    The anything thread.

I haven't been around here much in the last year or so, because I bought a 2023 BMWR1250gsa last April. I still have my Super Tenere though. Dealer wouldn't give me much for it on trade, so I just kept it. Here's what my dealer told me about the driveshaft issues last spring: After lots of...

    Honda 750 Transalp

Thanks Streethawk, good review, and just like that the Transalp is back on my list. I'll take one for a test ride when the weather gets better.

    Honda 750 Transalp

Has anyone actually rode one yet? I looked at one at an area dealership recently as a possible replacement for my DR650. The weather ruled out any test rides that day. (Wisconsin) Looks like an OK bike. The seat height seems good for me , 6'4" 35" inseam. No problem touching both feet flat on...

Harley Pan Am taking it on the chin

You have to wonder how something like this and the other problems didn't show up in testing. I have 3 friends that work for HD, one in engineering, one in engine development and the other in testing. I'll have to interrogate them about the Pan Am. They were really trying to get me to buy one.

Harley Pan Am taking it on the chin

Not too long ago there was a dealer here in Wisconsin advertising new leftover 2022 Specials for $16,000. Lots of low mileage used ones on Cycle Trader in the $12000-$13000 range. It's too bad, the bike had lots of potential.

Lithium-Ion batteries, EVs, and myth busting

You should be working on an onboard fire extinguisher system for EVs! The battery and charger technology is not good enough yet to get the public to accept them. Combine that with the dealers that won't sell or service them. Half the Ford dealers in the US have opted out of selling EVs, same for...

Weapons - What you have (NOT a political discussion)

.40 S&W refers to Smith and Wesson as the company that developed the cartridge. The pistols shown are Berettas, Lots of cartridges are named by the company that developed them .30/06 Springfield, .270 Winchester etc... I am also a big Beretta fan. Accurate, reliable, easy to disassemble and they...

    OEM crash bar instructions

If you are referring to the bars and skid plate sold by Yamaha, I have the instruction booklets. I sure hope you have all the hardware. My 2013 came with those items installed and I have replaced them with aftermarket ones. I do not have a scanner or a fax machine, so I will offer to make copies...

For all y'all fans of the DR.

There have been some gearbox failures. Kind of rare, but still a possible problem area. Some discussion about it on DRRIDERS and ADV RIDER forums. There seems to be 2 possible causes, one is a snap ring on one of the transmission shafts and the other being the hardening of some of the gears...

Dyno Tune Next Week, Recommended Changes besides A/F?

I would make sure the engine braking is reduced by at least 50%, and have the cooling fan come on at a lower temperature. If your bike is a Gen 1, make sure the restrictions in gears 1-3 are removed. This would be a good time to do the exhaust modifications before the tuning.

    Opinions on K&N air filter

I have used K&N filters for many years in lots of different applications. Never had a problem. I have one in my ST, Harley and DR650 now. The DR has a pre filter available that wraps around it to catch the majority of dust and dirt. I don't know how this would work on an ST. You can buy sheets...

From what I recall, they are different. I have a 2013 non ES model with Cogent suspension F&R. Back when I bought the shock and springs, I just called Cogent and went with their recommendations. I am very satisfied with the results.
