Lowering the fork legs in the triple clamp; how deep can I go?

If you are having to "fight" the balance of the bike in turns, I would suggest there's something wrong with the bike. Steering head bearing torque incorrect? tire pressure incorrect? tire type or size incorrect? Defective tire? Personally, coming off of sport and sport touring bikes, I prefer a...

    Improving brake performance

I found the EBC HH pads give better initial bite and a more linear response to lever pressure than the OEM pads. Some say they’ll wear the rotor faster but the OEM front pads are also HH.

Lowering the fork legs in the triple clamp; how deep can I go?

no, you were not clear. If the forks are in the standard position as delivered by Yamaha, there is no space to extend them. The tops of the outer tubes are already flush to the top of the upper triple clamp. The Super Ténéré already has more rake than most standard, sport and sport touring...

Lowering the fork legs in the triple clamp; how deep can I go?

Adding rear preload would accomplish the same, unless you think the bike will get too high for you going that way.

    Steering head bearing replacement

I’d stick with OEM bearings. I ordered the All Balls ones at first but noticed they were made in China. I’ve had poor durability from Chinese bearings before so sent them back and ordered the OEM ones.

    Engine warning light

A wheel sensor error, caused by spinning the wheels separately will cause an ABS error, not an engine fault (different warning lights). An ABS error as described would clear once the key is turned of and the bike is ridden again.

Stay away from this Air filter

Not sure what you mean by housing? The plastic frame?

Stay away from this Air filter

I’ve used the HiFlows for years and never noticed an issue. They look so close to the OEM ones, it makes me wonder if they actually build them for Yamaha.

    ABS light issues

That would explain the RPM/vibration sensitivity. Glad you got it sorted.

I have a 2023 Super Tenere, the owner's manual says 91 octane fuel?

Wow! $5 dollars difference on a 200 mile fill between regular and premium??? That’s like a dollar a gallon price difference! Even in SoCal the biggest difference I’ve seen is closer to 0.30 / gallon. Worst case that’s only $1.80 for a full 6 gallon fill, which for me will go close to 260+ miles.

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Well yesterday actually, but I replaced both fork seals. The right one had been leaking on and off. “Fixed” it twice with a seal cleaner, only to have it start leaking again a couple of months later. The left one had been solid but noticed a little weep so changed it too. New Redline Lightweight...

Honda Gold Wing - the return of shaft drive

Reading all this with interest as a new gen wing is on my short list to complement my Super T.

    Spokes

I tried Luster Lace. It really didn’t do much to my spokes. Got the dirt off but didn’t really affect the pitting and discoloration. Lotta work too.

    ABS light issues

The observation that the ABS still blinked twice makes me think there’s still some underlying issue there. The light should never blink or be on outside of a malfunction or the startup self check.

It’s always better and cheaper to maintain what you already have right?

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

It’s dirty at 26K miles but not overly so. I too ride mostly pavement but do ride a couple hundred miles a year on unpaved roads. Plugs still look pretty good at that point too. I’ve never noticed a change in performance after fitting a new filter and plugs at that mileage. This tells me...

I do the plugs and air filter every 26,000 miles when I check valve clearances.

Oil light coming on for a while..

Is this the first time you’ve used this filter? Perhaps the K&N filter holds a bit more volume than what you’ve used before? That would cause your running level to be lower and you’ll need to compensate with an additional couple ounces of oil. Once the oil warms up and expands, the volume is...

Why does the right footpeg lack the slider ?

I think the answer is the opposite. For safety reasons the manufacturer designs the foot pegs to touch down first. They give the rider immediate information and since they are foldable, they serve as a warning before any hard parts touch down. Without the feeler on the left foot peg, Yamaha...
