I doubt its bent. I've dropped mine like you described on tarmac and it scratched up the bars but didn't bend anything. If you can get the panel off its fine. Its not easy but if you can remove the panel its okay...

I don't find weekend riding off-road to be too bad if you stay away from like Rampart Range. While its never deserted or empty I find the traffic volume to be very light.. its just getting there! :)
