    Fork oil 5w vs 10

With a stock set-up, stick with the viscosity recommended by Yamaha. Five-weight oils are not created equal, so find/use something close to OE viscosity. ~G

    Radiator cowl bolts - argggh

Issue I have is they all seem to be at different funky angles. Once you find the sweet spot, starts easily. Important not to force and cross thread as that doesn't end well. Take a break, figure out the angle they're at and you'll be golden! Good luck! ~G

    Seat

5'-10" ish here with a 31" inseam. I have a Laam seat, narrowed in the front for easier reach to ground. It's still a stretch but workable. IMHO, don't lower the bike. Unless it's done properly, monkeying with the stock geometry destroys the handling. Watch the classifieds for used seats as...

    FJR 1300

Echoing Donk and Sierra, I've had an FJR since '04 model year. Fantastic machine(s) (on my 4th now), reliable as an anvil and it's still my pick if I need to get from point A to B. Like Donk, I've done several IBA rides on mine including a B2B Insanity. I'll always have one. Both my FJR & Tenere...

Tires That Fit - The List

Helped Panman install a (mis-ordered) 100/90 on his Tenere recently. Works, looks and fits fine and he reports little change in handling. I wouldn't hesitate to use one if it's all that's available. ~G

    Front auxiliary lights

For US bikes, we have marker lights at the upper left and right of headlight assembly. Are these what you're referring to? These are replaced with 194 LED bulbs if you'd like a whiter light. LEDs are polarity sensitive so check that both work before buttoning everything up. ~G
