Oil change with Altrider skid plate

Same here. I have tried several different oil filters and not had enough room to replace it without pulling the skid plate.

    Sticky Ignition Switch

Thanks all. I'll try the picks and vacuum first, then get to pulling the switch to blast it out if that doesn't work. Its supposed to be in the 40s and rainy here this weekend anyway, so a good one for some garage time.

    Sticky Ignition Switch

Beginning last summer, my ignition switch started sticking badly enough that I thought I was going to be stranded on a few trips. The bike only has about 12,000 miles on it so the key hasn't been in and out of it a million times. I have tried everything I can think of from swapping to my...

    Anyone change their own tires?

Some good posts above. I have changed mine in the shop with a machine, on the floor with irons, and out in the woods during a race (not a good time ;)). Must haves in my opinion, assuming that you are doing it at home are at least 3 long tire spoons, Motion Pro rim protectors, some quality tire...

    Clutch Slipping, easy fix

I'm not clear on why a clutch fluid flush would affect a slipping clutch unless the slave cylinder was sticking and exercising it as part of the flush somehow loosened it up. Slipping clutches are typically caused by worn or contaminated friction discs and to a lesser extent weak springs.

Your thoughts on it costing $10,000 ?

Looks like a solid deal to me. My XRL will be going buh-bye in the spring to be replaced with a T7.

    Fuel stabilizers

I've got to disagree with you there. I work on a lot of bikes and chainsaws as a side gig. As significant portion of the work I do is ethanol-related. Did older, pre-E gas go bad? Sure. But it didn't do it as quickly. It turned into goo, then eventually a sticky sludge/varnish. This...

    Screen cleaning

+1. Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish and a clean microfiber cloth. I buy this stuff by the case.

Metal shavings on final drive plug

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it continues. You should see the mess that typically comes out of a Ural FD. Terrifying, but they just keep going!

Who doesn't do valve checks, and have there been issues?

Comments on the interweb about models which "never need adjustment" can't be trusted. My FZ1 is one of those bikes that most would say don't typically need it. I dug into mine at 26k which is the first interval. 2 of the 20 were tight. That eventually would have caused a problem. I would...

    Hella Micro DE light kit

I ran a set of those about 10 years ago on my old VStrom. They were great lights.

    On-Trail Tire Repair Question

I have had to use multiple sticky string-type plugs as a "get home" repair also. I would much rather do that or even carry a tube to stuff in the tire as a last ditch vs a patch, which I wouldn't want to deal with on the side of the trail or road.

Denali DM Micro: How to best install on Altrider Crash Bars?

I also used the PIAA mounts. My impression of the lights is that they are fantastic "be seen" lights, but considering their size and 5W output, don't expect them to burn a hole in the universe like a set of Squadrons would. This mount light combo for the AltRider bars also allows you to mount...

    skid plate resonance?

I had the same complaint about my Altrider. I stuck a strip of neoprene padding intended for race bike seats on the inside of mine and solved the problem. A Dynamat-like product should do the trick.

Rigid Ind Dually vs SR2 Lightbar

Someone is really going to want that light bar to be able to take it off. I personally wouldn't worry about it.

Rigid Ind Dually vs SR2 Lightbar

I run the SR hybrid light bar on my ST and Duallys on something else, so take this for what it's worth - you'll get more light from a pair of Duallys and have a bit more ability to aim them. Upside to the light bar is that it integrates like it belongs on the bike. I see no strange reflections...
