    Scorpion EXO AT950 questions

I have the Scorpion EXO modular for a couple of years, wear it a lot. The reason I bought the Scorpion EXO is for the feature set. I wanted all the features: Flip-up, peak, and most importantly - internal drop-down shade. I would love to have an Arai XD4 because I think it's one of the best...

Ideas on what to do with this space?

I have the Altrider tail rack. Nestled between the bottom of the rack and the brake lights is a Klein tool bag in which I keep a Slime air compressor and tire plug kit. It's a tight fit so it's never wiggled loose but I clip it in with a carabiner anyway.

Homemade MotoJack for Lifting Dropped Bike

Good job! I like your smaller, lighter, cheaper solution. I have an original Bike Lift - big, heavy, expensive, really hate to pack it, but it works. Can you elaborate on the bike attachment points. You mentioned a "loop and cam lock".

A Colorado Mountain ride with an unexpected turn of events, 10-11-2020

I think I would have had a much shorter story - not much for cold weather, but good on ya for knowing your limits and abiding to them. Love the route-tracing video!

    Riding in Reno

Now that you've given your spoked rims a good bash, you might want to inspect each spoke for tightness. They've been known to loosen. After I lost a couple and had to buy a set, I trued the wheel and tightened the spokes, then safety-wired each cross pair. Not a problem since.

    Well and truly stuck

Well and truly stuck, but this is really a story about the kindness of strangers. It happens that I commute between Las Vegas and Ridgecrest, CA via Death Valley about once a week. I’m always working or have commitments to get to so never get to explore the dirt roads off Hwy 178 through the...

    Coolant Change the easy way

This job has been on the To-Do List for too long. Thanks for the moto-vation.

    Goldilocks

Well this is embarrassing. It appears as though I've cross-threaded my internet forums, thought I was posting on the Tenere 700 forum.

    Goldilocks

Greetings Tenere 700 enthusiasts. I'm not really a new member, having been on the Super Tenere board since before buying my brand new 2012 Super Tenere. I also have a purchased-new 2008 WR250R. both excellent bikes, well used for their intended purposes, and keepers, but I still search for the...

    I Found My Next Bike

I've been secretly hoping Honda would revisit this CT model as they did with the Super Cub and Monkey. Been shopping the originals for quite awhile but hard to find anything decent. New would be decent!. I can picture a His & Hers set of these. I'll bet even Mrs. Boondocker would ride this.

Show me your bike loaded with tent camping gear

Loaded for camping, 2-up, I'm just under GVWR. Max payload is 461 lbs. and I'll be at 420-435 depending how much water and food I have to carry. Yes, I have weighed us in our riding gear and all the stuff we carry in the cases/bags. I run the Mitas E07 Dakar tires and a Stoltec revalved Penske...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Replaced my Mitas E07 Dakars with Mitas E07+ Dakar rear and E07 Dakar front. With this set, I calculate that my No-Mar Cycle Hill Tire changer has paid for itself. I will say that the 4-ply Dakars are at my physical limit with this tool, but I always manage, even though just barely. Next up is...

    The 2021 Yamaha Tenere 700

I'm still waiting to see how the T7 does in "ADV mode". By ADV mode I mean packing the bike with camping gear and supplies for a couple of days off the grid and well off the highway I took to get there. I plan to keep my trusty S10 for 2-up touring and am happy to have the WR250R for playing...

Unbox/assemble and test ride video of a 700 Tenere

So is the Super Tenere Forum going to have a place for the Tenere 700? I'm sure many of us are curious, at least because of the namesake. I've actually subscribed to this guys channel after watching the video when it was released because I like his practical and no-nonsense approach. At first I...

Coming down off of center stand

I've seen GS riders ride off the center stand. I guess it's cool. As previously commented, the forward balance of the S10 while on the center stand is not well conducive to this approach though it seems some have mastered it. I guess it's cool. I mostly only use the center stand in the home...

I've never used the kill switch to shut off the bike

Yes, a surprising amount of passion and discourse for such a seemingly innocuous subject. If you didn't know the kill switch was there and never accidentally engaged it, then what would happen? Many years and many bikes of almost exclusive use of the ignition key with no ill-effect and no muscle...

Overpacking the tank bag. Got Junk?

Wanna lose more weight? Leave your electronics at home. Whatcha got there - phone, GPS, camera? You might find yourself more engaged in the ride without those distractions - increased engagement is beneficial if you ride in traffic. I used to run a tank bag but now only mount it for touring...

    Clutch Switch Pin

Is it the clutch interlock switch? This switch signals that the clutch is pulled in. For example, you should be able to start the bike in gear with the clutch pulled in.

Tank protector... What were they thinking?

There is a historical connection, hint - "Tenere". If you figure it out, you'll respect it. I don't have this design, get what it's about but it doesn't suit me.

    Need to change standard SHOCK

I have the the Penske 8987 (high speed and low speed compression + rebound damping). It's a fine shock but preload adjustment requires a special tool plus a long enough Allen wrench to undo the set screws, not as convenient as a knob, but then adjustments are infrequent once you get it dialed...
