Heated gear for a Super Tenere

No matter what heated gear you get, I cannot recommend the Warm & Safe troller enough. Makes heated gear infinitely better. When I first bought a heated jacket a number of years ago, I got the Gerbing wired troller that everyone used back then. Used it for exactly one ride before shelving it and...

    Bikes are Useful

Funny you post this, was just thinking the other day how much I miss my FZ6. All around the best bike I have ever owned. Blast around town, twisties, long distance touring, even light off-road.

    Shipping a Super Tenere

Looks like you're already going with the Uhaul motorcycle trailer which would be my call as well. Dirt cheap, ramp to load/unload the bike without help, wheel chock, $15/day in Canada as well. Given that the trailer is open and it's winter, you may want to pickup a roll of plastic wrap and...

SOLD: SW Motech Trax Adventure side cases and topcase allows you to ship to their US address, and they'll bring it into the GTA for a very reasonable fee ($10 from memory).

Your thoughts on it costing $10,000 ?

I feel it's priced on the high side, but Yamaha is lucky in that there is very little direct competition for it. I'm sure they have done their market research and know that there is nothing closely comparable at the price. On the other hand, it's a very basic bike without many features to...

A cheap alternative bag that fits the OE side cases.

If you don't mind the aesthetic, I love the blue Ikea bags. Waterproof, indestructible, and fifty cents or so.

V-Strom 1000 is dead. No longer being made.

Same reason the German cars used to relate the model number to the engine size, but decided to keep increasing the numbers with smaller motors. At least bikes aren't just pulling numbers out of their ass, yet

    Garmin 396 LMT-S Review

I've been a Garmin GPS user on the bike for 10+ years (various old Streetpilot 2720/2820, now Zumo 595), Basecamp is and has always been a steaming pile of poop. I can at this point reasonably plot a route using it, only taking a bit longer than on Google Maps, but it's still a pain. I just...

    Side Cover Plastic Rivets

Any reason not to order them from your Yamaha shop? I'm anal about having original and matching fasteners. Whenever I need a bolt or clip, lookup the part number online, and order from my local shop. Generally costs $1-2 each.

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

I'm embarrassed to say that I have tried to boost at the tender plug... Let's just say there was some smoke

Leaving to moto tour Vietnam for two weeks

Make sure you have travel medical insurance that covers motorcycles, scooters. I used World Nomads and unfortunately can confirm that they were ok with me being on a bike. Make sure you have an IDP, double check, but I think a US IDP is valid in Vietnam, my Canadian IDP was not. Heard that cops...

    Touring or Sport mode

My bike is unflashed. I use T for the first few rides of the season before I get my throttle hand memory back. Also if I'm tired and find myself bucking at low speed from the crappy fuelling. The other 95% of the time, S

    Aluminum panniers

Yeah, it's insane. I bought mine lightly used off Kijiji for $1800 for a full three box set. Way more than I wanted, but I guess cheaper than retail. Just checked and 3 bags with racks and 3 lock cylinders comes to $1250usd, $1640cad. Not sure if I selected the correct right and...

I really really really didn't want to fork out the money for the Givi Trekker Outback's, forgot about the price after the first trip. Fantastic bags.
