What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Have you lubricated the shifter pivot? Easily done and the symptom sounds like yours needs some lithium soap grease per the manual! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Bad O2 sensor?

Posting a related question here, since I also recently discovered oil in two of my spark plug wells and found that at least one of the o-rings wasn't properly seated (my fault). Now I put a new valve cover gasket in and want to make sure that everything is nice and tight. Question: Does it...

    Y.E.S. Extended Warranty

Likely a waste of money - the new ones don’t break in the first five years (unless you are doing tons of miles). I didn’t get YES when I bought mine and was very torn, but 10 years later with 63,000 miles I had no warranty needs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Strange front wheel wobble. Can't find the cause

I am guessing here: - pinch bolts tightened in proper sequence? - triple tree not perfectly aligned (horizontal and vertical)? - front rotor bent? - wheel not true? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Battery option?

I put in a Noco LiFEPO4 battery 12,000 miles ago and can only say good things about it so far. Saved 9 lbs, price was lower than OEM Yuasa, and it does crank better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Oil change interval

I once sent my oil (I think it was Rotella) to Blackstone after 4,000 and they said I could easily go 6,000 miles. So now I relax and change some time between 4 and 6 K, typically including the filter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

After doing my valves I now also had the entire rear swing arm and suspension apart to lube everything. I had done some pivots when I installed a stiffer spring but this was the first service of the swing arm pivot in 62,000 miles. Good news was that all the bearings were in great shape, but I...

    Swingarm bearing question

How do you losen and remove the lower bolt holding the Pivot shaft end plate in place? I slid the rubber boot forward per manual but regardless of shaft position or if I have bike on the side or center stand, I see no way to get a 3 mm Allen wrench to that bolt head. Friction modified plus gear oil sae 75w-85, should it be clear?

It’s clear out of the bottle. And now after 60,000 miles it’s almost clear coming out, but not so the first few changes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anybody have a spare right passenger footpeg they can part with?

Just upgraded my Highway pegs to OEM quality but now I am short a right passenger footpeg (I had a spare left on from a replacement mount). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Lithium Batteries & Chargers

I just got the Noco and it is 9 lbs lighter, starts faster, and cost less than the Yuasa. And I don’t see any need to ever leave it on the charger.

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Not today, but last week I returned from a 32 day/12,000 mile trip to Alaska, and the 10-year-old lady didn’t miss a beat and was supremely comfortable. I don’t think I will ever sell her! It is reassuring to know that she is reliable and Yamaha dealers are everywhere when you find riders...

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

Hard to say - I did it over several day since I also needed to wait for the shim kit and a micrometer to get in by mail. Probably 8 hrs - but I like to tinker so it‘s only partially a chore.

Valve adjustment - more lessons learned

After about 63,000 miles I just did my second valve check & adjustment and thought I would add my thoughts and experiences here: I did the first check after 33K at which point all valves were almost within spec so I didn't adjust them (Exhaust >0.20 and Intake >0.10). I was also too terrified...

Noco NLP14 On Sale at Amazon (Canada) - $149

I have been eyeing that battery myself. Should I be concerned how it interacts with the regulator/rectifier of the S10? I read that older R/Rs may get fried when being used with Lithium batteries. Does anyone have tens of thousands of miles on their S10 with a lithium battery? Sent from my...
