Super Tenere will not start - send help or dumpster

Congrats on the apparent fix and no dumpster needed . My well maintained ’05 FJR1300 would occasionally crank but not fire when warm but would always start at the 2nd or 3rd attempt (not the odo-clock reset issue for you fellow owners). But at 20 yrs old, I felt it was due for a few un-common...

Coil Pack harness wire colors don't match service manual wiring schematic

I found this out the hard way on my '12 model after my valve check! Had one of the coil plugs inserted into the Throttle Body.... seems obvious now but it took me a bit to figure out the problem (no start, error code etc). Sheesh! Mr. BR

where did you TAKE your Tenere today?

Had Monday off so I took a quick trip up to Mount Umunhum which is 3500' above San Jose.... (picture is looking to the North-East). The 85' tall "cube" is a former US Air Force radar station that operated from 1958 to 1980... it was opened to the public after a massive clean up a few years ago...

    Food Porn

Not exactly food p*rn but as someone who needs to watch his intake, I do have to say “no” occasionally to the yummy items you guys have pictured above. Here’s a recent shot at my favorite local café in the Santa Cruz, CA area. Bike included for a little extra credibility . I have sampled the...

    Hwy 17, Santa Cruz, CA

Spotted this morning... yellow ST headed South on Hwy 17 towards Santa Cruz, ,CA at ~9am. I was North bound heading back to San Jose after having breakfast in Felton. This is rare for me... I know there are other owners here in the South Bay but I never see them ;-) . Safe ride, Amigo! Mr. BR

How to remove the ABS Pump?

I had my pump out last year and I don't remember having too much trouble with those bolts.... access is a little tight but I believe I used a normal hex/allen wrench. I did not remove the muffler or the rear wheel or the entire rear fender plastic/tray. Mr. BR

    Ali express plastic rear hugger.

Treeman, I've got the Ali-Exp unit on my '12.... no issues getting tire off and I've had mine for a least a year and I ride mostly on the street. Only issue I had was a misaligned hole during install which was easily fixed. Mr. BR

Fault Code 60 YCC-T Drive System: Malfunction Detected RESOLVED

Sounds like the same issue I had... and I almost ordered a set of used TBs from ebay before I figured it out!!! I simply had things plugged in wrong (yellow item goes to the TBs). Mr. BR

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

New levers for my '12... seemingly very nice quality for just $40 through Amazon (Description: ESPEEDMTC For YAMAHA Super TENERE 1200). I was looking to add a little color to the bike and I've had a similar pair on my FJR for many years and these fold + adjust for length. Regards, Mr. BR

    2012 Question -Considering Purchase

Hey Bill! I know your name from the FJR forums... I've got an '05 FJR (10 yrs) and a '12 Super Ten (2 yrs). Nice to have a choice for my wkend rides. The real experts will chime in here but for the GEN1 bikes ('12, '13): maint records, valve check, upgraded CCT, ABS working? These GEN1 bikes...

2016 ST ES new problem (to me) - won't start in gear

Oops... mine is a GEN1 2012.... just assumed they were the same (clutch switch). I don't have a pic of the side stand switch but also I took mine apart and cleaned it (screwed on cover, O-ring sealed). Very easy, and I was just doing preventative work, no actual issues. I would think your GEN2...

2016 ST ES new problem (to me) - won't start in gear

You can replace or just take it apart and clean it... quite easy. Mine was working fine but after 85K miles, was very dirty inside. Mr. BR

    One thing leads to another...

Just a little follow up this non-issue. I also had some oil in my airbox but now a few thousand miles later, no oil has collected in the clear plastic OEM “bulb” (now hard and discolored) and it’s hard to see it unless you lift the tank. But somewhere along the way I found this little oil bottle...

    ABS bleeding and failures

Very happy to hear that the ABS unit I sent you worked out! My original unit continues to be be error-free since I fixed my loose fuse issue. I could stand to give the entire system another bleed but all good otherwise. Mr. BR

    One thing leads to another...

Not unusual.... esp on the GEN1 bikes and sustained hi RPM/highway riding. There is a drain on the left side that can be pulled occasionally to check/drain. My 80K mile '12 model had some in there when I first checked it (at purchase)... nothing much since. Clean it out an keep riding! Mr. BR

Any good Tenere mechanics in the SF Bay Area or elsewhere in NorCal/

Take your time and you'll get through it no problem... I have a shop manual and a shim kit... you are welcome to use both. Mr. BR

Any good Tenere mechanics in the SF Bay Area or elsewhere in NorCal/

No surprise that your local dealers are not familiar with the Super T.... however, once you get in there, it's really just a standard shim-under-bucket arrangement like an FJR and countless other bikes. However, a possible $1K bill is what pushes many of us to just do it ourselves. Mr. BR

    Hello from NorCal

Welcome aboard, Another Bay Area person.... all good. Anything under $5K will likely be a Gen1 bike ('12, '13) and there are actually two in FB Market place right now.... both around $4K. One in San Jose and another over in Petaluma.... check'em out! Regards, Mr. BR
