    GPS

Tried both. The windshield bar vibrates too much. The handle bar mount is rock steady. Efficient money and time wise also. The GPS comes with all you need. It also does not block your view of the road.

Poor man’s seal saver tool. Take a 35 mm film negative and slide it in and out of the fork seal. Hopefully you clean out any dirt or debris fixing the leak. So far so good just checked it. If it works, no cost & very little time to correct the issue. The advantages of being a Boomer...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Leverage is length and length is leverage. The Greek philosopher, Archimedes, said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.” You know, quotes like that don't stick around for thousands of years if they don't really nail it

Harbor Freight is the best place to get tire irons. They are affordable and good. Get at least 3. Been doing tires for a while. In the end it comes down to leverage and lube. At least that’s what she said :)

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Notice a little oil under my bike. 2nd time poking around traced it to the left fork. Tried the negative film trick. Will see if it did the trick. Otherwise new fork seals. 2015 ES with 42k. The oil stain was to confirm. Moved after the seal was cleaned

Well I could pull it off. Just would not be having fun :) Watch this financial advisor guy Azul. He says if you are retired and have the means time to start buying your life back. In other words start farming out what you don’t enjoy and is a time suck. Yard work I like, House cleaning...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Having changed my spark plugs I want no part of a valve check. Things are cramped down there. :( And that gasket looks like a pain in the butt. My steering head bearing needed to replaced and I was all the better for farming it out. Finally I have a mechanic I trust and is more than fair...

    Maroon Bell Gloves

Had good luck with Alpinestars gloves and boots. They work great, and comfortable. And as a bonus they last almost forever. Almost is as good as it gets in our world. :)

    250,000 Mile Super Tenere Writeup

Speaking of attachments, I went and helped a friend install Bumot panniers his 2023 new to him GS with 1500 miles on it, also got to test ride. All I can say is wow!!! the only negative I could tell you about this bike as it seems a little top heavy at dead slow speed otherwise one hell of a...

    About that time. Few questions.

When free is faster and better then that’s the way to go. Don’t use your cars Hvac. Use the sun. Cars heat up in the sun. They are the best solar heat collectors. Put your tires in the car with the sun shining and 15 min later your tires will be softer and warm.

Ceramic beads are the easiest and I believe the best and you can reuse them so they are actually cheaper. It’s nice and the cheap solution in the long run ends up being the easiest Amazon .

Ok a cheap changer will run about $150. Many of us have converted a Harbor freight changer. You will need a better mount demounting bar. I went with No Mar. But by the time you piece it all together and work it out you should probably go with my YouTube changer. Tip Heat the tire in...

    About that time. Few questions.

Do yourself a solid. Compromise, remove the wheels and take them to a shop to be changed. You will save some labor. I do my own tires. You will need a tire machine and there is a learning curve. It can be a real pain in the ass. If you get a machine it will be 3 or 4 changes before you...

    250,000 Mile Super Tenere Writeup

I would consider 250k a success. Anything after that would be an expense, and bother. It’s a personal decision. Said plainly the bike does not owe you anything. We sometimes let pride and emotion cloud our judgement. In the end it’s simple. Whatever makes you happy.

Klim/Gore-Tex - When is enough, enough?

It does not hurt to contact them. It’s my understanding gore-Tex is for life. I have heard of some old well used items being replaced.

Flat Seat Mod, Seat Gap Camouflage

The comfort outweighs the aesthetic. I used a piece of my lawn tractors worn out drive belt. It is brown and works just fine. The natural curve of the belt lends itself to the task.
