we did ride after taking a summer break because of heat and guess what it was 95 today... Texas...
we did some trail work at what we call little creek . it's a small creek and a copse of woods that is only 75 x 200 ft at most , but it allows for good practice . we have criss cross trails so you can do different things .... we attempted riding chuck a rock , but at 7 to 8 acres of heavy woods and no breeze (every trail had spiders webs crossing every few feet it seemed ) we decided to stay at little creek for some good practice . we cooked hotdogs , had some cold water , great time just hanging out .... Beta feeling good , I'm a little sore so a good work out .... never seen any altitude of any kinda with my Beta ....... Eemsreno can fly.

Did manage to get some altitude
Just back from a week of real altitude in Cloudcroft, NM at 9,000-10,000 ft. The new FI bike was flawless, the old carb'd bike lost a little punch at elevation but still very rideable. Miles and miles of true single track trails, most are very technical and challenging. Rocks, rocks and more rocks. No photos once bikes came off the trailer, it was all about riding and keeping rubber down. Weather was perfect 45-75°F, no rain. Primitive camping and bonding with my son. Evenings were more bonding with adult beverages over beer pong. Priceless.

not sure if the tour tech boxes will pass through . carry my work gear in them when commuting .
California lane splitting is why I have a motorcycle endorsement. I split on my first FJR everyday, with the side cases, and when I would travel back to California on the Tenere, I would split with my cases on as well. For how generally piss-poor everyone's driving skills are these days, California drivers are used to motorcycles and tend to leave room for splitting. Still, I developed the habit of riding covering the clutch and brake 100% of the time.

also Moto GP starts today at COTA , bet they will love the rain.

Monday morning and its back to work .
spent a day at the track(Spoak's ) outside of Lockhart ( BBQ capital of the world ) Texas .
San Marcos Motorcycles did a Beta demo day , so that's where most of the crowed was . so from what I gathered is that the Beta 350 rs (4 stroke )race model was the overall favorite ... not everyones favorite but the majority.
after our day at the track went to the ranch set up camp , cooked some steaks had a few beers (shiner bock , hard to beat ) stayed up to late watching cave man TV.
come morning at 6 am when I looked outside ,wet. lots of drizzle coming down . so we go to town for coffee and breakfast . back at camp around 730 , we decided to do some trail maintenance (tree limbs , rocks , things that might make you sad if you hit them ) and we added an extra half mile (as we walked and decided were to take the trail , it seemed about a half mile . probably more like 3/10s . so our little practice trail has grown to over a mile . now rating the trail for difficulty it is (1 to 5 ,5 being very hard ) 1 to maybe 1.5 .... it is a woods trail lots of trees and over head obstacles , the soil is (perfect yesterday ,not dried out , so very grippy ) first and second gear is about all you need .... this trail makes you turn (knowing were to brake and place your feet are really what it teaches you ) and among lots of other things that's practice I need . a couple of up hill and down hill sections have up to base ball size rocks (we call this area 'chunk a rock hill " . once you clear out the spiders its a great ride . we have 2 more sections to develop trails that may add up to an extra mile and has a few places to add to the difficulty maybe up to a 2 .
there are other places on the ranch that are more technical , but nothing harder than a 3....
so in my mind a 1 is anyone can ride it regardless of skill , a 5 you had better know what your doing . the tightness of the course and negotiating the turns through the trees at some speed has its on rating of difficulty that's more than a 1 ....
