Probably because it's a linked system. Usually when you apply the rear, it activates only one front caliper.
The front calipers are fed with one hose so no way can you apply pressure to only one brake. . . .
I agree with gv, but, most linked brakes don't provide full front when you hit the pedal, nor full back when you squeeze the lever. Does Yamaha provide the same amount of pressure front/back regardless of whether the pedal or lever is used? (with the exception of activating the rear brakes first.)

Just the back from a control perspective I would think, . . . .
Part of me says yes, but they're linked. I would assume that there some front brake activation would remain. 'Cuz, the manual is quite specific that for "rear activation only" the rear has to be activated first. Otherwise the brakes will be linked. Do they stay linked? Do they "unlink"? I know that they work great regardless.

In the S10 combined system, the pressure exerted on both front calipers comes from the front brake lever / master cylinder. While the pressure in the rear caliper (using combined mode)…. Will come from the abs pump… .. in combined mode, the rear brake is electrically assisted by the abs pump…. The front brake pump “is not connected ”to rear caliper

I was thinking of the release of the front would release just to the foot operated rear for low speed traffic, which I believe you were trained to do, etc. But as I said, what makes sense to me may not be how it operates, so I defer to those that have the bike.

Changed the standard spring for a Hyperpro spring.
Blood was sacrificed in the pursuit of unspringing the spring to appease the suspension Gods... The swop over went ok so the blood offering must of worked! :)

Keep an eye on it. If / when it begins to weep, really watch it before the guts blow out.

I opted not to buy a small tractor when we moved to treed acreage several years ago. I would have decided differently if I knew about these! There is a Mahindra dealer up north, I'm sensing a ride north this weekend!!!

I posted this over on the ADV Rider thread too: Love these now that I have them mounted. Glad I splurged after buying those Moose Racing bags. Getting ones built specific for my racks were a step up, but man, they made these in what feels like bombproof cordura.
