My wife thinks that I just throw safety to the wind. That might be somewhat true, I would say just camping anywhere in the Yukon, and Alaska wild could be throwing safety to the wind somewhat.
Worse than the occasional Grizzly Bear?

AvGeek is more lenient that I because I would have deleted all the off-topic posts about guns and politics.

Deletion of the gun posts in this thread have begun. Keep it up and we will start giving time-outs.

At the request of the OP, and concurring that this is a ride report, the off-topic posts have been removed. Any further posts in this thread that don't directly relate to the ride report will be removed as well.

I only passed through that area, I would like to spend weeks exploring Texas, hope some day I get to.
You had a lot larger load on your bike for that Big Bend trip than you had on our Utah trip. Was it mostly because of all the extra clothes you had to take? Your bike looked almost as loaded as mine was at the start of the Utah trip.

Tim, I need to call you, Michelle just told me that you called here the other day.
In winter riding I feel that it is very important to have double of everything it takes to survive the cold weather and be ready for the worst conditions that can happen. It takes a lot of gear to be comfortable sleeping or riding when it's 20* out. Of course I'm referring to traveling a long ways from home. If I'm just going to Arkansas or some place that I can run home in a day if a storm is coming then it's not as important.
