Absolutely right. Some one once told me when something goes wrong remember you are now flying the insurance company's airplane. Do whatever you need to do to be safe. Do NOT make a decision to avoid bending the plane vs you safety. Words to fly by.

New tag. Run for the border, a state line.

I’ll try to find a dock on my Tuesday ride. Good you could find a toll booth. I forgot that most tolls are electronic in the US now. This is good for me as when I go to the States on my Mexican plated bike I can’t find a way to pay them.

If there is not an arm blocking the lane or barriers between them, and the tolls are "on the fly," we've found in this area that the cameras above are triggered by loops in the concrete which can be avoided. Ride the lane marking (white line) between the loops and the bike is too narrow to trigger the cameras.
If you put the location below into Google Maps satellite view, then fully zoom in, the off-white sealant covering the square sensor loops is visible.

It's hit & miss around here. They've been moving away from the ground loops, to pole mounted sensors. Depends greatly on the angle that the camera & sensor is aimed. There used to be one gantry, that if you rode down the broken white line, bikes could get by. Now, somebody re-aimed the sensor, and the entire roadway is covered. There is one on ramp that I can get by on, even in the Jeep. The camera takes the picture, but the field of view doesn't get the LP on the Jeep 'cuz it's on the very left edge.

I have transponders, so don't really worry about tolls. I-Pass & Pike Pass for the bikes, FL easy Pass and TX Toll Tag sticker for the car. Pretty much covers everything except CA. All of the transponders I have are no fee types, except when I trigger a toll. No monthly service fees, etc. The $40 I put on the account covers me for a long time unless I'm traveling those areas or going to So FL, in which case they are all set to auto-reload at a set point. If not for CV-19, I might have sprung for the FL pass for the bikes too, now that we are closer to FL.

You can toss the TX toll tag. They only use your plate number, and they don't even issue tags to motorcycles. I learned all this when my wife got her new car. I went to the toll tag site, put in the new info, and pressed save. I had already transferred the toll tag to the new car. When the next statement arrived there were charges for far away TX places. Went back to the site, and found that I had put in one wrong digit. Fixed it all easy enough, but when I asked the clerk about why the actual tag's chip hadn't kept everything straight, I was told that it was only used for periodic audits; all charges are only associated with the license plates.

My sierra partner and I have passed this place numerous times. I wanted to stop and get a picture of the "company car" parked out front. He would never let me drive so I wouldn't be able to stop. I think the boss would have loved the picture.
