Roll call...whose riding season is coming to an end?
Mine will be very shortly.
Hoping to get in a few more short jaunts around my local haunt.
No problem with that as my thoughts this time of year turn towards deer and my tree stand.
January on it’s ice fishing.
For those who share a similar fate, whadya all do in the off season?

I'm in California there's no off reason. When I daily rode I just adjusted my gear. But currently I'm in an off season and using my car to do daily chores. But I find myself living more through others here, YouTube and Instagram.

I usually ride all winter, currently have 56 months without missing, the most I ever had was 78 months.
About 5 inches of new snow yesterday but I rode to town for breakfast this morning, it’s about 25 miles round trip, nearly got stuck in the snow bank at the end of the driveway.

For about the past 30 years I’ve been grooming snowmobile trails during winter.
I’ve had quite a few folks ask if I have a car.

Like moto.monk, the clothing gets adjusted, and I'll ride daily. I'm nowhere near as manly/tough as Cycledude. When weather gets like that. . . . the "juice ain't worth the squeeze." We might have a week in January and February that's un-rideable. . . . unless you have Cycledude standards.

We / I can and do ride all year round on our winter rides we usually wait till 11am ish to let the frosts thaw and we're good to go, its spring now so the layers are still thermal but gradually work our way to t shirts till around late March / April, so for alot of riders the seasons just starting.

I usually put my bike away at the end of October and it stays there until April when all the salt that is put on the road all winter has finally been washed away. What with covid and getting some big projects finished on the house the bike has been hardly used this year. For me the bike is strictly for pleasure and I get no pleasure from being cold and wet through!

I haven’t got lots of time for riding the bike. Work etc etc. So it does end up being weekend ride outs.... when we are not in lockdown but like Ronzo I am also am into hunting and that does take up a lot of my time. I just don’t fancy a deer on the rack of the bike.

I’m out on mine tomorrow. Covid has moved my MOT date out to early January and I won’t be riding then. So MOT day tomorrow. Once overnight frosts appear and the roads are salted, that’s my lot until next spring.

A few more mild days yet though I reckon.

I fear mine will be over soon. We had almost 8 inches of snow yesterday and the highs will be in the 30’s for the foreseeable future.

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't even looked at my bike in about three weeks. My season normally slows down around mid October, and resumes sometime near the end of March. Rides get fewer and fewer as the weather cools, and stops around the first snow in November. Starts back up in the spring once the the temps stop freezing.

I've ridden in the winter before, but I'm just not enough of a cold weather person to enjoy it at all.

Maybe another month, maybe 2? I can deal with short rides down in the low 30's, but if the roads have been hit with rock salt and other corrosive ice melter, I'm done until a good days worth of rain washes it away....and hopefully they don't immediately put more down.

In the Seattle area I ride year around. Unless there's snow (live in foothills at 600' elevation) or ice, the roads generally stay in decent shape except for some sand. Gotta watch out in the shady spots though. I've been known to make a Pinks hot dog run in November and a last ride run to central Cali in December...just for fun!

Ran into a guy at the CW Bike Show several years ago. He was riding a GS with studded knobbies and rode every day including snow and ice. He said cornering was sometimes interesting with the tire combo. Crazy...

Getting the ribs healed up for the next month. Just got some heated gear so was planning on finishing late fall in Illinois. Heading to our winter place in Arizona before the end of the year.

Getting close to hibernation time here in Sweden for the big XT.
Time to put more (s)miles on the old XT600, rain or snow.
Sliding on leaves / ice / snow is so much more manageable on a lighter bike.
My old Klim outfit is still a winner with appropriate under garments for all seasons.

Days getting shorter. Our group rides will end next week with the advent of DST. I’ll still take her out if Nov. weather holds, but it’s almost time for hibernation.
Off season? Usually time for gear and farkle assessment. Although I have that stuff pretty locked in now. A few months to recharge is good for me. I’ll be fired up by spring.
Just part of the cycle.
