Delkevic exhaust Signal Roast

I recently installed the Delkevic pipe and have about 5000 km on it. As you can see from the photos, despite my angle in the pipe away from the signal light and reflector, discolouration from heat is occurring. I know some of you have the same pipe and have commented that you’re not having the lights roasted. I’m thinking of adding an extension between the mid pipe and the muffler to push the exhaust further to the back of the bike, so the exhaust gases clear the signal and reflector. How have you mounted your pipe?

So I mounted mine pointed a little down, but forgot to angle out. I removed the reflector when I installed it, and put some closed-cell aluminum backed foam insulation on the back of that indicator as a precaution. Because I didn't angle the pipe out, it actually melted a bit of my rear fender. I have since pointed it more outwards and have experienced no further issues.

When I did the original mount I just made sure that all the bolts were loose on the coupler and then gave it just a tweak of angle before tightening. Then I used the muffler bracket to keep that tweak pointed down. There's another user on here who also added a riveted mounted bracket to the pipe, so it had, in effect, two mounting brackets. One for the top and one for the bottom of it, keeping it more stable/exactly where he wanted it pointed.

I'm wondering, now, if the aluminum backed insulation I added has kept my light from being roasted, or if my more downward mounting angle helped.

Do you have a picture that you can post?

Hi,
My second Gen 1 had a Delkavic tail pipe I think they are good value! But,they supply two different lengths if you fit the longer of the two it will fry indicators and pannier rails. That bike now lives in Dorset I think mine was a 350 mm the 400mm is the sizzler.
Thanks.

I don’t actually see any heat damage in your photos? My pipe is mounted similar to yours, but not angled out much. I have the baffle in though, so maybe that changes where the heat goes?

The bracket that mounts to the bike allowed mine to swing horizontally somewhat. It got my reflector. I mounted a small stability brace to stop that. I ran mine with a baffle as well. I went back to stock for a two up ride and haven’t put the Delkevik back on. 1D43072C-5AB1-4EBF-BEBC-36248A56D785.jpegC5F4E22F-1033-41FD-BF35-AE1CD65E73DE.jpeg5F7A7443-6251-4629-A3DE-6E1D09AD8DC6.jpeg

Mine is angled same as yours BUT, still roasting the signals. Probably the removal of the baffle is the problem.

I know a lot of people like Delkevic end cans, but they are a pretty generic can and I guess you get what you pay for. :(
I hear you. In terms of quality and workmanship, the can is really well made. It also has more “seat in the pants “ power and a nice tone vs the $1300 + HST Akrapovic pipe.
