Its a tiny reservior. Its a pita.

Its also easy to overlook, so go order a SB8125L speed bleeder and make it easier.

Reminder: Three full pumps will near empty that tiny reservoir. I do two pumps and refill.

This is what two year old fluid looks like (bike was in storage for a year so its two calendar years but one year in miles).

I do my brakes every oil change, but I do the clutch twice a year. It's amazing how clear fluid performs vs even just year old fluid.

Always kind of shocks me when I see a Tenere in the shop that has never had any maintenance at all. On this topic, the brake and clutch fluid is completely black. After I flush all of that junk out they report back, "feels so much better". LOL

Doesn't hurt to change fluid, but can't say I can ever feel a difference in new vs old, or that my old looked much different than the new. I change every 3yrs. That seems plenty often enough here in Colorado where it's dry as a bone.

You convinced me....I will do it the easy way and just ordered one.

When you get it: You will likely transfer over a oring like gasket from the old bleeder to the new one. Its got a cap on it for the bleed screw.

Fluid leaks out a tiny bit while there is no bleed screw installed, so plan for that. Just get the new one on quick and make sure not to cross thread it. Screw it all the way in until you feel it bottom out and stop.

Once its on, get your hose on and just crack it 1/4 turn, then remove the clutch reservoir lid.

When you pump the lever: Fluid will shoot up and out of the reservoir if you pump hard or fast. Sloooow and gentle is the name of the game, all the way closed, then all the way open.

Remember that you only get two, maybe three pumps on a full reservoir. I used a syringe to easily refill mine every other pump.

I’m going to get some speed bleeders today. Did a quick online look and finding the longer M8 x 1.25 might be a challenge.

this is really helpful! Thanks for sharing.

Even if you can't or don't change the brake fluid often, try every couple of weeks to actuate the ABS in a hard stop on gravel or grass to activate the pump. They can internally corrode and are horribly expensive to replace.

Hopefully not a (too) stupid question. Does it matter which wheel I lock up? Reason I ask is that I am more comfortable locking the rear but note that I get a very different noise from, I presume, the abs depending on which wheel I lock. I assume it's just one system and locking the rear activates 'the' abs but just want to be sure. Many thanks.
