Thanks for keeping the thread in the original intent!Since this question is would require an opinion based answer instead of an fact based answer. . . . it probably should be avoided. Sorry.
You certainly are allowed to, and not enough people gather facts before giving an opinion on a subject. You already have your opinion, and are trying to subtly push it here, but this forum, and thread, is just not the place for that, as stated in the topic line.I’m not able to form an opinion because I’m not allowed to ask questions to gather facts.

Sorry about the cut but we've already demonstrated how fast a train can jump the tracks here in a motorcycle forum. There are MANY forums to ask questions like the one you had, like this:I’m not able to form an opinion because I’m not allowed to ask questions to gather facts.

I get what you're saying, but, in the current US political climate. . . . that discussion is almost guaranteed to run off the rails. Opinion questions such as "what is a good defensive firearm?" "What is your favorite make of shotgun" wouldn't be such a big deal.I’m not able to form an opinion because I’m not allowed to ask questions to gather facts.
. . . . It's like me trying to tell a Texan (lived in Texas for a year), that Whataburger is no better than Burger King (it isn't)....Haha
You're both wrong. . . . Braum's is obviously the best for hamburgers, fries, and ice cream. Whataburger is the best for taquitos. Burger King? (at least around here) I wouldn't make my dog eat there. It's like me trying to tell a Texan (lived in Texas for a year), that Whataburger is no better than Burger King (it isn't)....Haha
NO it's not!!!
Ahhhh, you guys, one wordI get what you're saying, but, in the current US political climate. . . . that discussion is almost guaranteed to run off the rails. Opinion questions such as "what is a good defensive firearm?" "What is your favorite make of shotgun" wouldn't be such a big deal.

Anywhere? That doesn't make any sense. I remember back when Glock first hit the market. . . . . Oh my God, a plastic gun, they're going to get thru metal detectors. Never happened. I guess they only want to sell revolvers, and 1911s?California version can't have plastic
You are 100% wrong.California version can't have plastic
They have a roster of guns that are allowed to be imported in the state for sale.I have to agree about the S&W Shield. My EDC is the .40 PC version. (ported, enhanced seer, and fiber optic sights) Shoots extremely well for the size. Do explain about the "California Version". I can think of a couple punch lines. . . .
THAT WAS A CRUDE ATTEMPT AT HUMORYou are 100% wrong.
They have a roster of guns that are allowed to be imported in the state for sale.
There is a limited roster of guns that meet their so called safety standards making the gun manufacturers spend a considerable amount of money on each specific gun to get it approved. If Glock makes a Green 19 and a Black 19 they have to have each specific gun approved and do it by SKU#
But they went a step further. No new semi auto gun can be added to the roster unless it meet the microstamping requirement on semi autos. A technology that does not exist. So no new guns have been available in CA since 2014. The guns already on the roster are the only ones gun makers can sell in CA (to non LEO). Revolvers can still be added, but most manufacturers wont bother.
So they can have that Glock gen 3 but not a Glock gen5 That's why companies like Glock sill make older versions of guns, for the CA crowd.
The semi-auto handguns have to have a magazine safety. No magazine, no bang if there is a round in the chamber. If it is capable of firing, it has to be marked (etched), and only LEOs can purchase them.I have to agree about the S&W Shield. My EDC is the .40 PC version.
