News reports here show people with symptoms queueing for covid tests without masks on. The media are outraged at them having to queue but ignore the lack of masks.

listened to a radio show that was talking about fans in the stands . the Dallas cowboys with no fans in the stands will lose 79 million dollars a game . no ticket sales , no concessions sales , no merchandise sales , no parking sales . and for those people who earn money for their family by working there , they get nothing too. the patriots lose 40 million and on it goes . so they need fans to be able to pay players on down to the ticket taker.

Another interesting read.

BTW, last Saturday I found out my supervisor tested positive, no word on his condition. Sunday night after a full day mowing grass and cleaning up a graveyard I developed a cough and sinus headache.

Concerned about the findings of my Suprv. I decided it might be best to get tested. Tuesday the test results showed I’m positive for COVID-19.

Today my cough has lessened and my headache is not quite as bad. I’m taking sinus meds. The Clinic prescribed no meds, just isolation....My work immediately put me on a two-week quarantine.....on a high note, in two weeks I’m officially retired.

I went down with it on 22nd July. Spent 16 days in hospital and am only just getting ready to return to work. The recovery has been long and painful with most of it bedridden and feeling completely useless. I’ve lost over a stone most of which is muscle mass which in turn left me very weak. It’s a vicious bastard and I envy those that can shrug it off but it knocked he’ll out of me

Good luck and best wishes to all of you who have caught this virus. The numbers continue to skyrocket here in Wisconsin. Everyday we hear about someone we know testing positive. Many schools that opened 2 weeks ago are being closed. A 47 year old teacher from Green Bay died from Covid-19. The hospital cases have doubled in the last 9 days. The governor has extended the mask mandate for 60 more days and of course the legislature is challenging it. The bars and restaurants are still open though. There was a youth soccer tournament locally last weekend. High school football is scheduled to start this week. WTF?

The Texas numbers are still going down. There was slight blip after Labor Day, but nowhere near the one after Memorial Day. The Governor allowed restaurants to open to 75%, but bars are still closed. Most stores require masks for entry. Schools are a mixture of in person, and virtual. Mask wearing is pretty high, and might explain the falling numbers. That is. . . . if the numbers can be believed.

My son, and d.i.l., tested positive, quarantined, and recovered. The d.i.l. had slight chest congestion, and cough; nothing else. Which is very good since she's five months pregnant. My son had absolutely no symptoms at all. In the end they got a 14 day vacation, and completed a bunch of chores around the house. This is one weird & wicked virus.

After a nice and peaceful summer here in Europe, the numbers have been going up dramatically all over the continent for the last couple of weeks.
As a result stricter rules for social distancing are put in place and travelling is restricted again...

I ran into a 24 yr old mother of 2 at a elderly friends house. I ask her about covid prevention. She had every excuse in the book for not taking ANY preventative measures. Mask don't work-everything you touch has it on it etc. I told her she was part of the problem. She was still talking shit when I left.

The news report I saw showed 2,9xx new cases, for the 23rd. Like I said though, I'm not taking any "official" numbers as gospel. But, I will be taking precautions.

Texas actually reported a spike of 17,820 new cases on Tuesday the 22nd (highest since the start of the pandemic), but this was apparently due to a backlog of tests getting pushed through. Still, definitely wear masks and socially distance until we get a vaccine -- this stupid virus isn't going away any time soon.

Glad our members here recovered, even if it knocked you on your ass. I'm concerned there may be members who may have died from it and can't warn us about it.

OX, is that you???
Are you so sensitive that you need to live in an echo chamber 24/7?

See? That's why I don't put much stock in the reported numbers. That a huge disparity in numbers. I also don't agree with dumping back logged results into one day. They need to be assigned to the correct dates. Doing otherwise skews the already suspect numbers that much more.

I too think Mak is onto something. :)

Day to day number don't mean much due to the rate of testing and lumpiness of getting results out. What matters is the running average, which helps better describe the trend. Here in Wisconsin it's going in the wrong direction. I haven't looked at the details, but school and university cases are likely a big part.

This summer I think many got lulled into complacency. Easier to social distance with schools and universities being out of session. Daily and rolling average cases going down. I know I got a bit more casual in social engagements, though still masked up in public. I'm taking a review of my behavior patterns to avoid catching or passing covid to others and tightening up a bit. Is it a drag? Yeah, but a pretty minor inconvenience in the big picture.
