E07 mileage and wear, when do you change?

This tire has approximately 11.5k miles on it. The tread is just above the wear indicator. I was going to change it out, before going on this last weekend’s ride. After searching a bit it was apparent that it’s not worn out yet.

My ride was just over 1000 miles, of mostly pavement, with about 100 miles of dirt roads. I found it very confident even on the dirt. I also had 160 miles of “dumping buckets” rain on highway/interstate and it felt great.

To those who have run the E07, how far down do you find them useable?

Here’s my front, still rolling at 64,000 kms. With C-19 I’m not taking any trips, just day rides and dry pavement and gravel roads so it works fine. It’s not at the wear bars yet but scalloped quite bad, replacement is here and ready to be installed soon.60621A79-0C21-4E35-94B0-646338B09786.jpeg

Agree that it's trip dependent. I'll run a tire to the wear bar if it's just short day rides, but I've also pulled tires off because I was planning on being on the road for a while. Like this one, which had lots of life left, but not enough for a Yukon and Alaska trip :)

Changed out both tires today, rear has 20,000 kms and the front has a whopping 70,000 kms. That may be some kind of record! I don’t normally run a tire that distance but all local riding and could pick my weather and roads. Finally heading out on a 10 day trip so new tires and brakes and fresh oil for peace of mind.F4F95899-BC4E-4583-BDC2-6BDE92891818.jpeg

I'll say. 70K kms is double what I would expect even for easy use. Are you sure?

I'm sure. Installed the tire at 90k and replaced it at 160k. I've had a new tire waiting to install for a couple months but the old one just kept on going without wearing much at all in the last 20k. Normally I get 50k from a front E07 and I'm not proud of running it in that condition but it wasn't at the wear bar and rode along just fine.
