Hi all. Has anyone on here ridden one of these ?. I test road the 1st one. Fantastic engine but felt huge and heavy. Which is what they said about the S10. Test rode an S10 it just felt like a big dirt bike. Am interested how the new Tiger is now. Thanks for any replies.

I can but concur about the original TEX. My buddy, admittedly a Triumph diehard, reckons the gen 2 is far better, with a lower CoG, but still very road oriented despite the advertising blurb.

Normally I would suggest an extended test ride, using a dealer outside the Capital, if you are interested, but that's unlikely any time soon.

I almost bought one. Twice. Had a pretty good deal at the Dealer but decided to retire so I wanted to save cash so backed out. Then I was enticed to go back to work, went back to the dealer with cash in hand to purchase the same bike and they would not honour the price from before so I walked away. It stayed in their showroom for at least 6 more months. I felt the ride was superior to the S10 and had many more features (self cancelling turn signals, switch to mph from kph, switchable abs, etc.) but the S10 was way easier to work on, more and better priced accessories and reliability was better. As for the actual ride I liked the Triumph better, just felt smoother and the on the fly adjustable windscreen was nice. It did feel a little top heavy compared to the S10 and maybe a bit wider. Both are good bikes, the Triumph is about $8,000 more expensive up here and the dealer charges more for maintenance on Triumph then they do for Yamaha.

Gorgeous bike. A good friend of mine has one, and likes it. British Racing Green & black. He told me about a problem he had when he first got it. IIRC it was electrical. Down for six weeks. Hasn't had a problem since. But, yeah, even if the reliability was on par with Yamaha. . . . there's that price difference. If money was not an issue, it would still be my second choice. . . . and I don't have a third, or fourth. :)

I spent a day on this before I bought S10. I liked to ride on it very much, the triple is really exciting. Did not feel any more heavier for me than the S10 But I was worried about its reliability and the dealer's ability to fix the problems. Yamaha was a safe option, I am very happy with it.

Good buddy of mine has a new 1200 (had the 800 before) and he really likes it. So far, reliable for him and he's much more road focused than gravel.

Tons of gizmos (down to heated seat and heated passenger seat :) ).

Have a friend with one and he loves it, but then he is 6'6." The Tenere felt small to him.
I'm 6' 200 and your comment captured my impressions quite well.
