I Could give making one a go, but I'd need one to take measurements from (a broken one like the one pictured would be fine). Also have to decide what material to make it from - aluminum might be too strong - causing connecting parts to fail, Delrin or HDPE might be better.
I am going to SodoMakerSpace in Seattle this week with my sample part to inquire on 3D printing. If it is not feasible to print a part I will be happy to send you the sample part

I have access to a bunch of CMMs if super-duper reverse engineering is required. I can spit out the measurements of everything to everything in whatever coordinate frame and units makes sense for a machinist. Finding the size and center location of all those radii would easy peazy on CMM.

That would certainly speed up any CNC or 3D printing operations. I'd guess a nice DXF file would be the thing to have.

If we can get a sample to Ramseybella, he probably will have a solution for us. A metal replacement would be a welcome treat as yamaha has decided to not make a replacement.
Haven't received one yet.
If i can get it to my machinist I can get a quote on a batch, the larger the quantity the lower the price.
This guy has a large shop half dozen employees and has done precision work for LANL for years.

Here's what I got from a 3D printing service. The yellow part is a cheap mock up to check if it would fit and operate properly. The black part is made of high impact plastic. I have installed them and they work fine, but they may not be strong enough to deter thieves. I have ordered a set made of Nylon. When they arrive I will determine if I will be offering up the parts for sale here on this forum. Is there any interest in
purchasing a part for $25/30?

Thanks, but Mr. SkunkWorks spotted my posting and responded under a different thread and has me fixed up now. Just waiting by the mailbox for it to finish making the trip. But you have to know there are others out there needing this part that Yamaha doesn't stock.

Check the Latest Posts on thre Forum home page. EVSY on your side of the pond in Wales just posted a need for a pannier latch.

Anybody with a home-forge that could make a mold of one, and maybe make some out of cast-aluminum? or maybe some other alloy?

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but my recently purchased S10 needs both the right and left broken OEM pannier latches replaced. Did someone end up making the part?

Thanks!
