Eville Rich, I believe with Schlossman closing there are only 2 BMW dealers left in WI, Mischler’s and Tytler’s? Folks at Mischler’s are great, I’ve never been to Tytler’s.

Didn't know Schlossman was closing. I was referring to Mischer. In New Orleans,my experience was with The Transportation Revolution.

dealers are in the business of selling , but they get attitudes , and it comes from sales managers . he didn't make a sale that day , and he probably sales about 2 or 3 bikes a month based on my visual inventory as I visited the dealership over a 3 week period and would see the same bikes on display . but they also sale honda ,Yamaha , Suzuki , and triumph .
By your comment about sales managers, I'm guessing you're talking about that "dealer" on the north side of Austin. I never had a Beemer, but from what I've heard the whole local Beemer community has been in mourning ever since Lone Star sold out to those "other guys." I've been in there a couple of times shopping for a bike and won't visit again. I've also heard horror stories about their service department. It's sad for the sales people because I had the feeling some of them are really good at what they do, including the one that tried to work a deal with me, but his manager completely destroyed any good feeling built up by the sales rep and I ended up twice (several years apart) walking away with my money still in my pocket. The really bad news is they've bought out old dealerships and monopolized so many brands (Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Triumph, BMW and maybe a few others). We used to have a nice homegrown and owned alternative in Georgetown just north of Austin, but now the big conglomerate Ride Now has the crappy north Austin dealer and Georgetown both in their stable.

My mother said if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything. In this case I am going to follow it.

Hope it works well for you.
LOL, mine too! BUT as much as I Love my S10, it is 6 years old now, I'm not getting any younger, I'm getting kinda bored, and Yamaha continues to stand still...so I'm going to go sit on a GS(A)1250 tomorrow morning. Hold my beer, what could go wrong!!!

Are you talking about "Freedom"? 'Cuz that's what they do. When ever a dealership isn't doing well, they buy it out, and "restructure" to make it profitable. They've done it in Cleburne, Ft Worth, and Hurst. (Honda, Honda, BMW). That's just three that I know about. And, that doesn't even include cars/trucks.

This guy.

My S10 does absolutely nothing wrong, but after 6 drama-free years, I think I'm looking for a little drama to spice things up.

I"ve never owned a BMW. I'm into a bit better financial situation, and having a sense of YOLO / "if not now, when?". Maybe in a year I'll be kicking myself and trying to dump a hated BMW. Maybe not, though.

Understand the want for a new toy. If looking at Beemers, make sure to look at the new 1200 Triumphs (they've changed a lot for the better), and Guzzi V85TT. The Triumph is big like the Beemer and Tenere, can come with cast wheels, and when you turn down or off the traction control the power in the triple can break your face from smiling so hard. With the high weight, it's more of a handful on a loose dirt road than the Beemer or Tenere.

I got to sit on the lighter smaller Guzzi, liked it, and am looking forward to riding one before long.

First 7 months and 8K miles with our first BMW and there is nothing bad I can say about the bike. Wife loves it and rides more that she ever has with any other bike.

I'm still very reluctant to leave a shaft drive, but if I could make the leap to a chain, the 850 GS has my attention. Just don't know that I can do the chain for my main bike. Like CW, that Guzzi with shaft is worthy of consideration.

I’m liking the look and reviews of the new F900XR, similar HP to the Super Tenere and about 40kg lighter, the torque is not far off either. Will go have a look at one, maybe test ride when it warms up.

Well hell, I'm closer today than I've ever been before to doing something I said I'd never ever do. No drama whatsoever during the past 6-years of ownership, I'm still deeply in love with my big blue S10, I know for sure that I will regret this decision for the rest of my life, LOL...but she's completely farkled out, I'm increasingly bored, the GSA is teasing me loudly and relentlessly, and the nearest dealer to me (Moon Motorsports) seems to insist on being a class act all day long...fuckers, LOL! It's looking like it could be a very expensive week ahead!!!

I've owned two GSA wet heads they are fantastic. I'm too tall and need to stretch legs out and the S10 parallel allows pegs. No way to get as comfortable with BMW cylinders in the way. The biggest thing I miss 'pro shift assist".

HBL, go spoil yourself, they’re great bikes and I’m sure you’ll have great times on it. A new bike might get the inspired juices flowing again and take you on new adventures.

I have many bike mates that have boxer BMs of various types, most of them high milers and not garage queens. Most have no reliability issues, those that have had issues, the vast majority have been minor.

Good luck fella, whatever you decide.
